Just heard on The Footy Show that the AFL may introduce a mid year trade period that may be introduced as early as 2012. I think it will be good for clubs struggling with injury. But then again worries me.

I prefer the midyear draft option Hawthorn floated a couple of years ago. Pick up a pinch hitter from the state leagues if all your rucks have gone down, etc. Lot less disruptive. Adding another trade period will result in another week where not much happens.
i think it's a backward step, we may as well bring back saturday afternoon footy, 19th& 20th men. and fitzroy and south melbourne.
