Roast Midfield vs Carlton today. Deplorable.

It was mentioned several times on Triple M;

Martin, Cotchin and Foley altogether had zero centre clearences between them to 3 quarter time. Just a disgrace.

At one stage they were 17 - 3 in centre clearances and 40 odd to 18 odd around the ground.

Combine that with the tackles (where they were at around 39 to 3 quarter time - around 20 below Carlton who had 50 more uses) and you get a midfield which was quite clearly smashed.

Hardly good enough. Jackson was hopeless aswell, Deledio had no impact. The list goes on. Edwards barely had a touch.

I saw cotch and foley try hard. edwards isnt a clearnce player. dids is an outside player. martin had an off day and I cant say i saw much of him in our out.

if you wana try something put king, newman, foley and martin or cotch in and get it out to dids or riewoldt who the skillfully put it in the 50.

Game won and lost in the ruck today. Our midfield was horribly beaten but there were times Browne didn't even compete for the ball just threw himself at the man. Either out skilled or his engine was shot. I've liked what I've seen at times- considering his experience etc - but today he was crsp

We got beat by over 100 and could have been more mind you we were playing against 19. There are more issues than just the middle as the scoreine suggested.

We were okay IMO, we just lack the personal to gel against a forminable opponent like Carlton. We have too many gaps all over the ground nd a stronger Carlton outfit will show us up when they are allowed to get their offense going. Our biggest problem for mine was our poorer players were very poor to the point of non-existent !!

I can see why Carlscum didn't give a rats arse about losing Grigg. No wonder he only played 40'ish games over 4 seasons. He was clearly a 'fill in' player there and what i've seen of him with the Tigers this year has been absolutely pathetic.

People pay out on a few other players and yes, the whole team was shockingly bad today, but how Grigg continues to get picked is a complete mystery. He's kicked a couple of goals, but they've been complete flukes (except perhaps for one set shot).

Can't lay a tackle, can't kick that great on the run, handballs are always to players under pressure.....

Stick him in the VFL for the rest of the season and just delist this dud at the end of the year or just blindfold him and leave him outside Optus oval one dark stormy night. Free up the salary for someone deserving.

I respect Hardwick as a coach, and personally reckon he was a key factor in bringing that hardness to our 08 side, but I'm still baffled why he doesn't play Tuck. The way I see Tuck is he is a do or die player, and plays his heart out. Actually gets a lot of the footy, and does some good clearance work.

Hopefully you guys give him a game.

I can see why Carlscum didn't give a rats arse about losing Grigg.

The big killer with Grigg is he really looks like he just doesn't care. That's not necessarily a problem though, as long as you have the skill to back it up.

Houlihan has made a career out of looking laconic and and dodging the hard stuff, and Carlton have always accepted it because of his sheer skill.

Grigg also looks disinterested and dodges the hard stuff, but he doesn't have the skill, and I really don't think Richmond are the sort of club that will stand for it.

Midfield.......what is this "midfield" you speak of. We used to have one but now they are only available for the occassional media article about what young guns they are. Maybe the boys should spend less time in the media and more time on their set ups etc.
