By the way, if you're slamming Mike, he DID average ONLY 91 in the Ashes..... and in the one dayers, an average of 38- after his blistering form in 2006, he was due for a bit of a comedown on the one day stage....

I think Hussey was also due a change of luck, while he's been great he's also been fortunate at times. The way he plays there'll be times when the fielders catch them etc. He comes in and hits late. Last year he got away with everything. Recently things haven't worked out quite as well. That's cricket. Most cricketers also have a bit of the second year blues as the grapevine works on their weaknesses though in his case he's not getting much air time. But in his first year the umps gave him a pretty fair run and even in the Ashes, the fieldsmen let him off at crucial times.

One has to remember that barring the tour of Bangladesh it is his first major tour/cup (Cmon we all know the DLF cup and CT don't matter) outside Australia/NZ/SAF and all his other cricket is in England.

David Hussey had a better year but we all know why he will never get a go in the Aussie team-those 3 letters that strike fear in northerners-VIC

Victoria dont have any real stand out players. just a good mix of good first-class players.

Really poor form in this world cup. His average would have gone way done but it proves his human. Should we rest him for Hodge who is in form? I just think his starting to tire from all the cricket his been playing (Ashes, CB, C-H and now the world cup.)

It's hasn't only been his batting that has been out of touch...his fielding hasn't been its usual greatness.

Hussey Should have been droped for Symonds, to keep Hodge in the side.

Hodge can bat and bowl, our bowling line up is **** house so we need all the bowlers we can get...

Ha ha. It's all right to decry those who score against the minnows but if everyone underperformed we could have done a Pakistan.

Hussey has now failed in 4 consecutive WC matches with all scores being under double figures even his difficult coming in time notwithstanding. His average is now below 60 - shock horror!!!

Hell in NZ Hussey scored 42, 105 & 13. Hardly enough to warrant people calling for his head after a bad 2 weeks.

They have been like this for every non-Victorian player who has failed in an innings.

They are very excited at the moment - before Hodge, who was the last Victorian to score a ODI hundred? It's been such a long time coming, and finally when it happened, the player gets dropped.

Come finals we want guys who've got a proven record of performing under pressure, this is where so many of the Saffies are weak.

I'm not saying Hodge isn't capable of delivering in a final but Huss has done it time and again - better than Bevan we were all saying not long ago.

They won't drop him - and they should play him up the order vs Bangys and Ireland to get some decent time at the crease.

Hussey's and Hodge's role are both to take time and get in before blasting.
