not sure you can argue full stop - it's a bloke's opinion - and unless you think he is lying to himself - his top 50 is just that!

Plus his pre-season list is a projection of the season to come, not an assessment of the season past. So doubly hard to claim he is wrong.

(Entirely justifiable, however, to question the whole point of the exercise.)

He might be by the end of the season but ain't there yet. 42 is about right.

Reckon Vince is a bit stiff. Had a brilliant 09 and could probably be 10-15 places higher.

Doesnt he do this as a crystal ball kind of thing where he thinks they will rank at the end of the year?. I thought thats what it was, might be wrong i dont actually read anything he writes so i might be just guessing! /.

Boak or Gray would be worthy.

But what is it based on, output, or potential output? If it is based on the former, then neither of those players have had what you'd call break out years. Here's hoping 2010 will be it, but if it is based on what they have delivered so far, you couldn't put either in the top 50.

lets have a competition.

How many midfielders in shehans top 49 will Brad Sewell beat head to head this year ?

Plus I cant believ e the fanfare in anouncing it - trying to give it cred is doesnt deserve ??

It'll be interesting to see where the ranks 'superstar' Dale Thomas

No chance. More and more are waking up to the fact that he's nothing but an over-hyped, lazy, downhill skier.

Don't know if Hall deserves a spot TBO. Lets wait till he plays against a decent fullback, not all the puny kids who took him pre-season. Scarlett owns him so hard it's embarrassing.

This list is based how Mike thinks the players will perform for the 2010 season.

I'm aware of that but you can hardly disregard a list just because you perceive more improvement in a player than somebody else. The very premise of this list is much more subjective than the end of season version.

I personally believe Higgins could be top 30/35 by the end of this season...if he remains injury free which is a pretty big if as he's had his injury concerns over the past couple years.

I'm pretty excited about Boak this year. He's been promising for a while, and utterly carved it up in the Port pre-season match I saw. Just looked a class above the others around him.

Sylvia did have a breakout last season, but I don't think many people can argue against the statement that Davey is more important to the Dees than Sylvia at the moment.
