Shehanns top 50 was ok with the top 20 pretty good. But how the hell was luke mcpharlin in there. How is he better than hird or buckley who both didn't get in. Also he picked lloyd. I know hes an absolute gun but he hasnt played for 11 months. Also i think griffin and johncock are good but maybe not top 50 yet. Clement was the only pie, i reckon fraser and johnno mite have been a bit stiff. What are your thoughts?

I was surprised when i saw Griff in there aswell. Like you said hes a great player but hasnt shown much yet. He must only be in on potential. Might aswell have thrown in Delidio in aswell.
I couldnt belive Clement was in there either. Let me explain. He left out some great guns including Robert Murphy who was injured during the pre season and Ben Cousins. They should have got an automatic inclusion into the top 50 but werent because of Bens offield dramas which should have nothing to do with it and Murphy because of his knee and they had limited pre season. If i remember correctly Clement was injured aswell during the pre season so going by 'Mikes Guidelines' of not having any injured players in the 50, he should not be in there. Now im not knocking Clement but he shouldnt be in the top 50 purely because of that reason.
Also i was surprised to see Ben Johnson or Heath Shaw not making the cut. That was extremly stiff.

Clement was not injured in the pre season and he thoroughly deserves to be top 50. Regardless, Mike Sheahan is an absolute knob!

Clement suffered a minor injury in the pre season . He has played the last couple of games and will play round one so had to be included. Twice AA and very stiff not to be there last year. Definately in the top 50. Did he have an injury list and if so was Didak on it?
Agreed on Mcpharlin. I would not rate him in my top 100

In the injury list he put Didak in there (I still think he won't be affected by the partial reco much this year) but he put him behind Peter Burgoyne amongst others. If Griffen is there because of potential, surely Heath Shaw should get in there also, who had a much better season all together and common sense would see him improving.
G.Ablett didn't even get a mention. Sheehan has no idea.

McPharlin and Burton surprised me. I dunno why Burton did. I think I still see him as a player who takes a good specky and thats it. I think it was a good list this year.

He got it right with only Clement from Collingwood. It’s fair enough to assume Didak would be injury hampered in 2007. Fraser isn’t top 50. Not even close to it. He is capable of enough improvement to get there in 2007 but that would be basing it on speculation and hope. Johnson I think scrapped in to his post 2006 top 50 so he might have been one to again slip into the lower rungs. I guess he thinks some others have more improvement ahead of them.
This is partly why I am concerned about our list. We just don’t have much top end talent under 30. What we might have (and it is still only might) is very young. We are very heavily reliant on all of Cloke, Thomas and Pendlebury become very good players for our future plus at least 2 from the last draft. we probably need 3 or 4 from the alst draft to be very good. There has to be doubt over Rusling who was one I had high hopes for. Swan and Heath look like being very good for us. Whether either or both can be AFL top 20 or better is another matter. You need some at that level to win premierships and probably a top 10'er or 2.
