firstly, I'm watching on TV only. Secondly, after Q1 I was focussing on here as much as the TV. A couple of weeks ago I thought he looked really good playing behind the ball. Tonight he seemed to be back playing ahead of the ball, last week a fair bit as well, from memory. Are my recollections correct, is he back ahead of the ball mostly and if so, why would it be the case.

He looked great at half back vs Richmond but unfortunately it turns out he was only playing there due to injuries in that game.

Now we've gone back to Mackay and have shunted Milera elsewhere.

So even though it would be great for the team and for Milera's development, we have used the Smith vacancy to extend the career of an under-performing senior player.

It appears they won't select someone in the back 6 unless they are willing to put their head over the ball, or go into the contest when it's their turn. Milera isn't, and that's really all there is to it.

Milera's physicality is fine. Has made strides since last season.

Mackay tries but was even getting out-bodied by rookies tonight. He can't even play on the opposition's worst forward and offers none of the attack we need from that position. Is a complete liability.

Milera has to play half forward because Mackay is even worse there than he is down back. And senior players get dibs.

Mckay was one of our best players tonight... He was great him and Gibbs only two that tried

Milera's physicality is not fine, not at all. Mackay plays down back because he's a better defender than Milera.

Yeah - time to get rid of a 20 year old top 11 draft pick who has played 26 games!

I don't care what number draft pick he was, I am just worried that he's starting to get dangerously close to bust status.

Usually there is a game here and there that gives you a sign of what's to come, but here we are into his 3rd season and I am yet to see Milera even fire a shot so far

Not get rid off however send him back to the sanfl to develop his game

His game at this stage is obviously not strong enough for SANFL level, I can only recall 2-3 games at best when I have thought that he has played his role, the majority of games he has gone missing for long periods and he plays safe footy...... where is this pace and elite skills so many talk about?

Some players can develop there craft playing at the top level, others need to go back and develop at the level below, IMO it’s time to give Milera a month in the SANFL and hopefully bring him back a more confident and ready player

We'd drop all bar Gibbs if we were judging by tonight. Pretty harsh on him to do call for a dropping based on tonight.

At the game his physicality really wasn't even a step below the bulk of our player, in fact, he put his body behind the ball more and tackled more than a couple of our inside mids.

The disappointing thing now is that his speed is seemingly average. Not slow but definitely not a lightening bolt. And his disposal is becoming run of the mill.

But, he is 3 games into a season as a 20 gamer, having had a heavily injury interrupted preseason. Have patience.

Just so i have this right people would actually persist with DAVID MACKAY than give wayne milera the opportunity to develop further? He has played 26 games of AFL for gods sake. Have a look at the stats from last night.

Both had 16 touches. Milera had 4 tackles vs mackay 1. 9 contested vs 6. 75 vs 63 efficiency.. 6 one percenters vs 3. Then theres the little old fact that mackays opponent was a kid in his first year that kicked 5 ****ing goals...

It's the AFC way.

I wonder if Milera will be the next Lyons, traded on and becomes a star at another club after having his development hindered at the Crows.

Thought he looked quite at home playing behind the ball against Richmond.

I'll set em up.....

We had a whole pre season to get another player up and running in Smiths role. I understand why we dropped Mookay back there last year but he wasn't great in the role (maybe a trend) but it shouldn't have continued. It is lazy coaching at its finest to decide they would stop gap another year instead of being braver and selecting a player with similar traits to the one injured, that we invested a high pick on.

Milera isn't a kid anymore, his body should be right for a seasons run now, put him in position and make him accountable.

By round 11 we’ll know if Milera is anything. Sydney, Suns, Carlton, Port, Bulldogs, Melbourne.

Plenty of chances to show us his ability against a couple good sides and some lesser lights.

If he can’t crack it for a spot in the best players at least once I reckon we can start lowering the ceiling that he’ll reach.

He’s young, but it is also time to do more than just have people saying “at least he showed a bit more effort”. Gun young players show more than effort - they show results. They just don’t show it all the the time.

Give me one game with 20+ disposals at the very least.

If off the half back give me one game with him among our top 3-5 metres gained.

Milera was using his body very well at times.

Also starting to worry he’s a bust. I remember when he first came on the scene and side stepped a port player (Can’t remember who?). That was one small glimpse of a good player. Haven’t seen ANYTHING since then..
