It's down to Eth to do a vid for us (I will sweet talk his sweet voice with talk of sweetness).

Unfortunately it'll take a while to get the stadium back up and finished really since all these updates are ruining the ability to mod with the server (since that's all done from AusFrag and not an ability to mod in a way that we can all do easily). And they likely don't update fast. It's really only a couple of mods that we need, the one that allows us to world edit (since we need to lower the stadium to fit in the light towers) and give us resources, but who knows how long it will take to get that up and if it's being interrupted by an update every couple of weeks it's even more of a pain.

My guess is that we'll have to post-pone until at least after the full release has come out and then we can start up again. If you're up for it whenever we go back I'm sure we'll start working hell for leather on it to get it done in time for the draft?:p
 
I hear you - i have a server on Multiplay - and each time there's an update, everything stops for about a month. Sucks, and that's why i can't wait for the full release.

Def will find some time to come along and put in some hard yakka when you get the server back up.

We should get someone onto modding and to mod us the ability to actually play a game in one of these stadiums. That would be something.
 
So, as the BF servers were iffy today I had a bit of a holiday and built a 50x50x50 room of iron blocks, with roof shutters controlled by pistons.

I then installed a smallish canal mob trap in a room inside it and played with mob grinder setups.

Results were mixed so I built a second one and will try other things. The internal room needs to be much bigger to get a decent crop of mobs. A lot of info about mob grinders is out of date so there is more experimentation involved than I planned for.

And bloody Endermen keep nicking pieces.

Inside the mob trap. There are some extra water pipes to help flush mobs into the canals if needed. All water flow controlled by pistons from a control room.

Oh yeah I had plenty of time on my hands today.

I can give out the schematic file for the room for anyone using MCEdit.

What I think I'll do is make a multi-story ultimate mob-farm-in-a-box.

I'd love to check it out at some stage - love the mob traps although with Endermen now they're harder to make without being pulled apart.

Would love to see how you put it all together.
 
I remember the days of the 0,0 chunk mob farm exploit. It literally rained mobs. Fun fun fun ;) Also Chief, press F2 in-game to take a screenshot. Much easier than Print Screen - it saves as an image in your AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/screenshots folder.

The Internode games forums do that well with their server, might be able to do the BF one in a similar way.

There is a section in your profile info to fill in your Minecraft username and that is used to generate a white list, refreshing every 15 mins or so.

Then when you're in the server, admins are able to grant protected land (using X, Y & Z coordinates). In the protected area only you (and any others that are added to your protected land so that you can work in teams) can place or destroy blocks or access anything stored in chests.

I have ran a few servers on my own machines and it isn't too difficult (though I don't have the bandwidth to support too many players).

Yeah, it was AusFrag. They were very good once it was all up and running. Dunno if you're up for mods and such but just remember if you do that any update will hurt the server in terms of even just keeping it up. And Minecraft will be likely to get another 2 patches in the next month.
 
HBK I was going to tap your knowledge to help get it running and admin'd.

I'd like to do a SMP server with some mild PVP to spice it up.

Give people enough land they can build something decent but if they want to expand they have to risk a bit.

On one I am playing in you can get kits, so maybe you'd give people some land and a set of diamond tools and they can go from there.

The hardcore PVP is just a pain if you want to build anything nifty.

Maybe if you had a designated 'city' that was, say, 1000 x 1000 blocks, which had claimable plots that only you and other people you designate can build on as you said, and outside of that area is PVP and free build.

Even iConomy would be handy as you could mine stuff in the free build area, sell it to buy a small plot and go from there.

Complete hardcore PVP isn't good.

Would definitely be willing to help out with whatever you're willing to try.
 
We could load up the MCG at the centre as the spawn area :) It would be cool to get the G done.
