****! I had JUST posted in the injuries thread about how lucky we were not to have any of these sorts of minor injury things in the pre-season, and then this happens.

Will this affect his training at all does anyone know?

I rate this kid very highly as a player, but this is his second off field incident within a couple of months involving friends.

Maybe he needs to find some new ones that don't get him into so much strife.

On the field he is by far and away the most promising player we have unearthed for some time.

It would be a shame if he becomes one of those players that is constantly messing up off the park.

Maybe I missed the sarcasm in that post Gigolo, but surely you're joking. Carlton's booze cruise, THAT'S an off-field issue, Lovett allegedly raping a woman, THAT'S an off-field issue, Fev at the Brownlow, THAT'S an off-field issue.

A kid in year 12 driving a car as friends peg eggs at girls, and then tripping over a fence while drunk, are not issues.

Setback or not, Hanners was looking mighty fit when i saw him at training on Monday.

Wouldn't start panicking myself. This is all seem standard 18 year old behavior. Not beyond the limits expected of grown up men you see at Carlton.

The worst thing a young footballer can do is totally isolate himself from the world around him and than he really wont know how to behave in certain circumstances.

Brett Kirk got a speeding fine once mabee we should have punished him?

(too be fair to the hippie his car ran out of petrol and he was pushing it at the time)

Tripping and falling an "off-field incident"? Christ, footy players really don't have a chance these days. Even if he was drunk, still, it's a freak accident. Hardly bad behaviour, players are allowed to have fun over the Christmas break.

The egg-throwing incident, well, yes that was an off-field incident. And rather a funny one at that. FAR from being a serious one, though. It was a schoolboy prank, it was hardly assault, public drunkenness, drug abuse, gangster activity, etc, etc, etc.

you might find that hanners might have copped one on the chin, he's no angel. lets hope he learns by it

Exactly what I heard mate

He is a super talent and I genuinely believe can become one of the stars of the competition. Just needs to be a bit more careful off the park.
