Terrible news.

He was one of the youngsters I was keeping an eye on this year.

Hopefully he can get right and still have a good career.

You're missing Malceski as well. The other Sydney player is Thornton who's from Perth.

Traggic news. He's still young and hopefully he can make it back.

This is getting a bit worrying. 5 already in 2 weeks of preseason. Its been pretty quiet for a few years with knees. Remember about 6 or 7 years ago when there were a heap in a row, lots at Subi if I remember correctly. Lets hope theres no more.

That's number 6 (Brown joins Collingwood’s Brad Dick, the Kangaroos’ Nathan Grima, Fremantle’s Paul Hasleby and Sydney pair Nick Malceski and Kristin Thornton as ACL victims in 2008).

bad luck for the poor kid, sympathy to him.

I hope it wasn't because he was so massive for a young KPP hey

Just thinking that. Not sure how he did it exactly, but weighing in at 154 kg's and having 34 foot biceps at 20 years old can't be great for a young blokes knees.

And Biglands too.

Not a great start to the year. I think it's particularly sad for the youngsters looking to make their mark. At least someone like Malceski knows he can play good footy and knows his club is going to give him every chance to make a recovery and all the time he needs. And while having had one before may be scant comfort, he at least knows that was successful (it was the other knee).

Brown is probably fine too. West Coast will be patient.

But for players like Grima, who's had a number of injury plagued years, or Dick and Thornton, who would have been hoping this is the year they'd make their breakthrough, they're going to have to go through recovery wondering whether their chance will pass them by.

And then it's different again for Biglands, who knows that this could well spell the end of his career.
