Let me have a shot.

Pick 16,Griffin to Collingwood

Dayne Beams to Brisbane

Mitch Clark to Fremantle

Collingwood get a good ruckman if Jolly does retire who is much better than Woods. And allow Witts and Cegalar to develop more.

Fremantle get that Forward that they need

Brisbane get Beams who will fill a role on the HFF and go into the midfield as well.

Is Beams worth that? I think our compo / 2nd rounder + Griff.

Can't see it. Decent enough player, but I think Clark has more value, and I think those trades are good for Clark, meaning Beams for less.
I'm suprised Clark for Beams (in terms of what the Lions lose & gain) was thrown up by a Lions supporter. I know this whole scenario came up on the assumption that the Pies would need a ruck if Jolly is in fact retiring, but don't forget the Lions have delisted/retired all their rucks bar Leuenberger.

Would suit them to land Griffin, I would've thought. Griffin + pick 16 / compo pick / 2nd rounder (whatever is deemed most equitable) for Clark would seem to make some sort of sense. Assuming Griffin had any interest in living in the Sunshine state!

Otherwise, I'd imagine the Lions would want something extra from the Pies on top of Beams.

The Mitch Clark scenario

No thread on it since the rest have been locked. Now we can keep it to actual news as opposed to bitching

Fremantle have taken there first rounder of the table. Club have a specific target in the draft (Brad Hill probably) and will not part with it under any circumstances in the Clark trade

According to Lions list manager Eagles have made the best offer to date which is apparantly a first rounder + a option of one of 2 fringe players

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Brad Hill isn't rated anywhere near the first round.

Oh of course...

Re: The Mitch Clark scenario

Chris Bond does the trading...so yeah, I can see why you would think that

The guy is willing to change team name, jumper and song, willing to sack coaches without notice or reason but hes above getting involved in the clubs drafting process. Yeh sure :o

Quite funny actually.

Freo's newish management are making tough decisions - ones which aren't pushed upon them, for the best interests of the FFC. Rather than warming seats they are actually being proactive - most footy administrators sit back and let things happen, or react to events that are out of control or every taxi driver knows the answer to.

As for recruitment, they will be leaving that to Bond and Co - they're professional enough to know not to interfere in that aspect.

Refreshing to have managers that actually do the work and take the calculated risks in the best interests of the club they work for.

Freo and Lions in Standoff

Fremantle has been seen as the frontrunner to secure Clark's services, but the Lions were not satisfied with the offer of pick 16 in this year's draft in exchange for the tall.

And yet Chris Bond said on Trade Radio that our first round pick was not on the table?

No direct quote confirming Pick 16 was offered, only speculation. I'm happy to get him for 16, but will be disappointed if we pay more. He's potentially a very good player, but he's not the messiah. He will not be the difference between us making top 4 or not next year.

If West Coast get him, then so be it. Bondy won't pay more than he wants to.

That's a bit surprising TBH, that Freo has already offered up #16. I know Voss said he wanted more but I was kind of expecting him to panic and accept the first thing that they put on the table.

There's a herald sun Bond direct quote stating that our first rounder is not on the table.

You rang?

Clark played his best footy at the Lions on ball when Luey was out.
Cant see the Eagles being dinkum.

Agree. It is interesting the way the trade negotiations are panning out. If there really is a better offer on the table from WC, why hasn't that deal been done? Clark may prefer to be at the Dockers, but if WC are doing a contract for $500k, then he will play every game for them, and be in his home state. What exactly is the problem here? Do the deal and go forth and multiply.

eagles may well satisfy brisbane but unless clark is wanting to lower his expectations on how much money he's worth i seriously doubt there is any chance of him being an eagle. In saying that my guy feel is we're just playing the game.

We could pay some of his contract, Like what Carlton did with Fev and us?
