The players that Geelong would probably put up for trade:

Taylor Hunt
Travis Varcoe
Mitch Brown
Billie Smedts

If I were Melbourne the only one that might be of interest is Taylor Hunt, but it depends on what you need.
I think the point is that all those players would get a game at Melbourne, so they would all have value in the Demons eyes!

Is Clark really a great piece for the cats? Fingers crossed if he ends up there he comes good. But wouldn't throwing Clark into the mix hold up the development of vardy who is coming back from injury and plays the same role as Clark!?

Vardy's development next year will be in the reserves, trying to get some continuity into his football after a couple of years wrecked by injury.

I read in news.com.au this morning that Geelong are confident that he's fully healed and that it won't be a problem at all. In fact they think he's so good that he'll help in having a tilt at the flag next season.

I remember we were very confident Hamish McIntosh was over his injuries too. He missed the whole next year.

I almost fell of my chair reading comments on the Geelong board that were scoffing at the idea of Varcoe as a fair trade. On planet earth, Varcoe would be unders for Clark, if anything.

You can't do cartwheels at the prospect of Hawkins and Clark in your forward line, and then turn around and offer peanuts.

Peanuts for a peanut who can play good footy if his head and body are both right.

Are you talking about Varcoe or Clark?

As a hawks supporter I'm hoping Clark changes his mind and ends up somewhere else (haha hawks) because it is a potentially scary thought of a fit Clark and Hawkins in the same forward line.

Varcoe contributed last year, Clark didn't, cartwheels true, but there is a great big chance this ain't going to happen, or happen often. Personally would do pick #33 and not trade any players, they don't deserve it.

Wasn't aware you were part of the list management.

Josh Mahoney stated such on radio yesterday.

So next time instead of making a pathetic smart arsed comment and making yourself look like an absolute peanut why don't you ask where I got the info from.

Of course that's presuming that you weren't just trolling.

Will be interesting to watch if the trade does drag out if Collingwood don't try and stick their nose in again and get in Clark's ear and try and convince him to rethink his decision and trump Geelong. Same scenario as the Melbourne/Clark deal. Could happen and Collingwood are in a better position to do a deal with Melbourne as Lumumba has said he wants to play for the Demons next year.

If we've learned anything from this exercise it's that Mitchell Clark is always open to suggestions.

And yet almost every Geelong fan wants them to trade him.

/go figure

Any Geelong supporter who wants to trade Varcoe has no clue about football.

He was in our best half dozen players for the last six weeks or so of the season including both finals we played.

Given we have precious little in the 24-27 year old age bracket (Brown, Hawkins, Selwood, Simpson, Varcoe), I would be loathe to get rid of him unless he wanted to leave - and by all accounts he doesn't.

geez i hope the cats dont trade varcoe -- turnover merchant;)

in all seriousness though, varcode for clark is a steal for the cats....wayyyyy more upside to clark, if they are coinfident he is good to go
