Going by his statistics per year he HAS gone from strength to strength, he has increased everything year to year.

A year is too large a sample size to judge the intricacies of a player's performance from week to week. You can have a bad period and make up for it with a good period. Your point is in agreement with mine. I'm saying he has had prolonged downward spells and has made up for them by returning to form.
