Would have been interesting to see how we would have gone if Harris and Patto played every game in the ashes together.

Well A lot of the time when we had them 3 for not many we needed that extra bowler backing up and keeping the pressure on both ends, I reckon Patto would have provided that. We never really had 2 bowlers in Rhythm bowling really well, it was Siddle Alone when we had them 3/30 odd in the 2nd innings at lords, and in the first innings it was Harris

If he is fit he is a certainty, Pattinson is our best young bowler easily, only Harris would be ahead of him
Why should he be a certainty? Surely guaranteeing a player of a spot no matter how poorly he bowls is a bad selection policy. Was really disappointed with him in England.

Brett lee has come out and said get Johnson back in the Aussie team, reckons they picked too many similar bowlers, what do you guys reckon?

He's right. We picked too many of the same type (good bowlers) so need a bad one to make up for it.

OK, less flippantly, too many years of mostly crap for mine. Maybe at the WACA if she shows form leading in, but otherwise no. I would rather decent bowlers who are a bit the same than one who can't be trusted to hit the cut stuff simply to have variety.
I'm not really sure that Harris, Siddle, Pattninson are that much the same anyway. And they are still the first choice combinaton in my opinion, even if Siddle fell away a bit during the Ashes and Pattinson wasn't at his best before coming home. That is all subject to change depending on form, but Johnson starts a long way back.

to be fair to him, he was out of the side by the time we actually started playing decent cricket so it's hard to get a read on him. I was disappointing with his tour as well, but if the team's not playing well, i don't really expect a 23 year old quick who's played all of 12 tests to stand up to be perfectly frank.

test average of 26 and will only get better, and is much more comfortable with the kooka by the looks of it, him and rhyno should lead the attack at home.

He, along with Siddle, has been our best bowler since he came into the side. I wouldn't be giving up on him because he struggled for a couple of matches. Harris and Siddle are certainties and I can't think of anyone I would pick ahead of Pattinson. I'd say if he's fit and firing he's pretty close to a certainty.

When did I say I was 'giving up on him'?

He was over-anxious and trying too hard to take a wicket with every ball which was a likely scenario with such a young bowler. Shame he didn't bowl alongside Harris more. Good learning experience for him at any rate.

The Ashes was Pattinson very speed bump, he has been top notch before that including a 5 fer in India which is no easy feat for a quick. Back at home he will be very useful and we don't lose out on batting with him.

Pattinson is a Star, He will lead our attack for years IMO.

I gave Brett the benefit of the doubt and spent ten minutes trying to mentally build even the weakest case for a Mitchell Johnson comeback.

I challenge any of you to do the same because I ended up with bubkis. Imagine you are in a selectors meeting and it is you who will put his name forward. What you got?
