Everyone was bagging him. I told use that he will be the one to watch come world cup time. go performance mitch.

Not bad for a guy that aint good enough for qld seconds.
Some of use were saying.

this is postive from the match.

One match does not make a player....he needs to go on and make something of what he started here...no reason why he can't. BUT- there is a huge difference between four day cricket and one day stuff....

Pretty good effort to take 6 in the last innings, thought he was going to ruin Bichel's season for a while there but I guess he gave everybody a fitting finale by allowing Bichel to win the Shield with No. 50.

This was all Johnson needed to do, prove something at FC level before being picked for Australia. Now he's shown something, I wouldn't have minded so much if the selectors took a huge punt on him.

EDIT: Double post.

They were 12 minutes apart because I had this window running while I was doing some work, checked back a 12 minutes later and the page still hadn't loaded, but the post had still been posted....

Firstly, how the hell did you make a double post 12 minutes apart?

Secondly, agree with that, he had done NOTHING when he first got picked for Australia, he needs more performances like this before I completely accept any future selection.

It's "you" you fool.

He has a long way to go. His best ever performance is possibly his biggest ever match was a great effort, now he needs to be consistent.

I'm a fan of Johnson's, and hope he can really improve over the future, this is a good start for him and a good effort.
but lets not forget the game was over, and the Vics were demoralised.
but taking nothing away from him, becuase if 1 team can get 900 the pitch must be pretty good, so it is stilll a good effort.
but as everyone is saying, lets wait for him to hopefully back it up next year, and when the games are there for the taking.

he's lost a lot of that zip from when he was younger.

his control is mostly poor and he doesnt swing it like he used to.

he's also injury prone and i would safely say he's a million miles away from being a test prospect, i say all these as a qlder as well.

Former Australian quick Bruce Reid said the 193cm Johnson was a great talent. "He's tall and quick and moves the ball around, and he's got the potential to play a big role in the Ashes," Reid said.

It seems he is one bloke many of the scribes and former players seem to have a high opinion of. His international performances so far belie that though.

I read this in the 'Bruce Reid worries about our fast bowling depth' thread, which was also posted by you.

I reckon his performance in the Milk cup final says it all.

Wouldn't the rest of his career say even more?

DK Lillee has given him raps in the past aswell , however doesn't Bruce Reid coach Johnson on a part time basis at least ??

if johnson plays in the ashes this year we may as well just not bother turning up, he may play a big role in the future but if he plays in this series we are screwed
