Someone please explain to me how Muston will be a tagger on Saturday.

I watched him closely last Friday night and all I saw was a Hawthorn player who allowed his opponent to find acres of space time and time again.

I sure hope that Mitchell won't be replaced by JKT. All due respect to JKT, but he's a clone of the 2005 version of Clinton Young, not Sam Mitchell.

Shiels or Tuck to replace Mitchell, for mine, along with one of Gibson, Brown and Ladson for one of Peterson and Muston.

Yep. We need another inside midfielder unless we suddenly expect both Burgoyne and Sewell to step up.

It is a big loss for us but not such a bad loss that it prevents us from having a chance. After so many close wins it will be devastating but unsurprising to have a close loss...

On the subject of injuries and without wanting to start another thread, can anyone provide an update on Hooper's hamstring?

He is still listed as being 3 weeks away?

I am outside of AU and dont get to read all the AFL news.

Hoops is building his fitness base doing heaps of running we will take caution with him! He is extremely important to our pressure inside forward 50

Ah, really?

Yes really. May squeeze into best 25.

With the side that played against the Doggies we still have Brown, Gibson, Hooper, Ladson, Taylor and maybe Bailey ( Taylor and Bailey will be fighting it out for ruck spot with Skipper )

Brown, Gibson definately in our best 22 and most likely Ladson and very good chance on Hooper. Say these 4 are available who do you drop??

I would say Muston would definately be very high up in the mix to miss for one of them. IMHO i see all 4 being better and thus Muston would miss and thus not in our best 22.

Like many other posters here I like the idea of tuck coming in. He has that grit around packs which will be required against Geelong. I feel he has been a bit harshly judged by some considering he hasn't had a good run with injuries for the past couple of years. I also agree with the above poster that Muston is not in our best 22. I think his performances since returning to the side have been overrated by some.

We cant have a guy as limited as Tuck against the cats, make no mistake Brad Sewell will lift this week as will Changa who started looking like the 2008 changa last week also expect Ozzie to bounce back after a poor game last week, yes we have the weapons to fix the cats, lets do it.

Ozzie was tagged by liam picken because eade knew what sort of efect he can have on a game. He will be back to his best this week

Gibson or Brown would be better suited to the forward tag role than Musto as unfortunately the 3 knee recos look to have slowed his pace down. Getting beaten by Murphy, a player just come back from injury, on that turning circle showed me that Musto is ultimately not in our best 22.
Yea I noticed that. Murph turned him inside out a couple of times, he's lost alot of his agilty. it will come back over the next year so might be better suited to HB where he can run straight line. Doing his job ATM but will probably move aside if hoops gets fit. As for tagging he doesn't have the tank or the agility.

Out mitch, shoe, ellis
in brown gibbo, laddo

Big loss. Mitchell was fantastic against the Dogs. He played like a man possessed in the last quarter. We are going to miss his disposal. It's so much better than either Sewell or Lewis who are most likely going to be asked to step up.

Anyway, I'd prefer playing Gibson further up the ground over Tuck. While intriguing I don't think Tuck, (or Muston, Ellis, Ladson & Morton for that matter) can keep up with the classy Cats midfield. Ben Mcglynn would be handy to have right now! (I watched him against the Tigers and he's really taken his game to the next level.) Burgoyne is still building up his fitness base so it would be a big ask of him to take over Mitchell's role. I'd probably drop Peterson too. If he's not kicking goals he's not doing his job. He doesn't get enough of the footy and still needs to work on his defensive pressure. Rioli can provide that X factor.

Yeah that was a bit disappointing/sad as Murphy was more loping than running and Muston still couldn't make up any ground. Hopefully another preseason may fix that but I think that's more optimistic than likely.

Browndog in.

Keep the crumbing forwards agaisn the pussies.

I like how the media are now discovering small forwards are the go against Geelong

2008 GF anyone !

No shit. Teams to have beaten Geelong this year:

Fremantle: Ballyntine, Fyfe, Hill [Pavlich]
Carlton: Betts, Garlett, Yarran [O'Hailpin]
St Kilda: Milne, Schneider, McQualter [Koschitzke]

So in those cases it's been an army of smalls with only 1 recognisable key forward. For us we need to play Roughead as the only tall and have Buddy roaming outside the 50 as much as possible. This also means pushing Rioli, Bateman, Burgoyne and Hodge forward as often as possible to create nightmares for the one-paced Hunt, Enright and Milburn.
