Thought I'd kick this off, it was about this time last year that the Call of Duty - Nam thread was started, and people were very sick and tired of Modern Warfare 2.
Rumours for the next game have started to arise, with most of them surrounding the game being a prequel of sorts, that looks at the events prior to the successful Call of Duty 4, and even puts you through the various events of COD 4 and Modern Warfare 2 through a different perspective. This perspective is rumoured to be none other than Ghost's, one of the supporting characters from Modern Warfare 2, best known for his skull-face balaclava, making his appearance unknown.

http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/modern-warfare-3-ghost-prequel/The latest issue of the UK PlayStation Magazine has printed that insider are suggesting that Infinity Ward's next Modern Warfare title will be a prequel. In that prequel Ghost will star in the lead role for the game. The original rumor began in early January 2011, where unconfirmed rumors claimed that Sledgehammer was already long into production of this prequel.
Still to filed under rumor, Activision nor Sledgehammer has confirmed or denied these claims up to this point. We can look to the future for answers to these questions about the next Call of Duty, but for now, the only things that can be confirmed is Sledgehammer's work on the title. As well as the newly formed Project Beachhead which will further expand the Call of Duty universe.
If we’re getting a Modern Warfare 3 this November, it’s going to come at the cost of an Call of Duty spin-off from the head creator of Dead Space, the Los Angeles Times reported today.
Citing “people familiar with the situation”, the paper says that Infinity Ward, the studio behind the last two Modern Warfares isn’t going to get Modern Warfare 3 done alone. Parent company Activision is enlisting the help of its Sledgehammer Games and Raven studios to make the game.
Infinity Ward’s struggles are believable, given that the founders and dozens of key members of the studio were fired or quit late 2010. Modern Warfare games have usually taken two years to make and that kind of distraction would seem to have delayed such a schedule. Sledgehammer is a new Activision studio headed by two of the top creators behind the horror sci-fi series Dead Space, which is now made without them at rival company EA. Sledgehammer had been working on a Call of Duty of its own, one originally thought to be a third-person game but more recently touted as a first-person shooter. The Times reports that Sledgehammer is working on Modern Warfare 3′s singleplayer with Infinity Ward and that Raven, the studio behind many shooters and action games including last year’s Singularity, is helping with multiplayer.

If Call of Duty fans can remember it was first rumored in November 2009 that Infinity Ward were considering a game solely for Ghost. During Modern Warfare 2‘s launch event in the UK, the voice actor for the game’s Ghost character, Craig Fairbrass, talked about the possible game.
“I did in the last game a voice for a character called Gaz and in this game I’m now voicing a guy called Ghost, who now just got a spin-off comic of his own and they’re talking about another little game to go with it,” Fairbrass told Inside Xbox, “so, I’m quite excited about it. It’s grown and grown and grown.”
It now appears for this rumor to be more realistic as a insider noted that a title for Ghost is in development and will use the Modern Warfare 2 engine.
