Why is this so?

I know its been brought up countless times, but if we are striving to have the best of everything, why do we still have sub standard ruck coaches? Evidence being that Jolly sought out advice from his old ruck coach early last year... surely if Monkey was keen on coaching as he obviously is we should have sought him out.

I'm sure if the club wanted him they would of had him by now. He's been coaching at different clubs ever since he retired.

Just cause monkey is rightfully a club legend doesn't mean we just give him a job

Flanagan was never that much of a technical ruckman either

Collingwood has never been able to develop any Ruck talent, despite being able to develop kids in every other area and skill.

Apart from salmon and everitt who weren't developed at hawthorn, they develop any good ones through the same period?

Nup. Last half decent Hawk ruck was Greg Dear and he was only average.

I'm not necessarily boosting getting Monkey back, just wondering why we still have Flanagan and have not been able to develop any rucks we've recruited as kids. Ceglar looks like the best prospect I've seen for a while, but we've turned over a lot of prospects who never made it.

Bit harsh on Damo there, he's not exactly working with Sandilands and Cox in terms of talent.

Considering Jolly went back to this guy for help (think his names Simon Torbet correct me if I'm wrong) and the way they've been able to develop Mumford wouldn't it make more sense to bring him to the club?...

Our rucks are an ex swan and ex lion (and ex kangaroo for 3rd). We cant develop anything that remotely looks like a ruck. With 'the greatest facilities' and so on we surely need to review this area as we currently rely on trading for established players

Steve Taubert. You keep your mitts off him. Currie would be a target, though. He apparently asked for an assurance for his future at the last trading period but the. New sub rule would have cruelled his chances with Mingled, Seaby and now Pyke coming along.

Monkhurst = great player

Highly doubt he would be a great coach. Never seemed like the sharpest tool in the shed. I dont think the ruck coach should have to be a former ruckman.
