He is one player we don't have cover for.

If he doesn't mark he brings the ball to ground or creates.

He is our most integral player for finals success

A tidy summary.

He's the glue holding our forward line together (and, arguably, to an extent, the team). Hate to think what sorts of problems his absence would create (touchwood).

Read an interview with Stokes in the Footy Record for the Richmond game, and he said the rest of the little fellas like him and Varcoe certainly walk a lot taller when Moons is about. Would be interested to see how many score assists he's had this year. I'd hazard a guess and say for every 3 or 4 shots he has, he sets up at least 2 for his team-mates.

Didn't think Mooney was alone today in not taking the onus to have a shot at goal. Has been a quite a lot of that sneaking back in our game in recent weeks. Don't know if it is an issue with confidence, or just an over eagerness to bring teammates into the game, but there were at least 3 or 4 occasions in today's game where a player should've had a shot but tried to be too cute and pass off but turned it over.

I'd say almost certainly it's players trying to bring others into the game. We have to remember it's the way all players are coached these days. Whilst that is fine, I think with some players - especially key forwards - they do need to be more selfish.

Personally, I'd tell Mooney AND Nathan Ablett to have a shot within 50m almost all of the time. Unless perhaps if they're on the boundary line, otherwise have a ping.

And Steve Johnson I would tell to never think.

Thinking is exactly what brings him undone.

Moondogs is such an all round player this year. While he might turn it over 1-2 times a game when he's trying to be too creative he's probably involved in 2-3 assists a game.

SJ and Moondogs can be pretty unpredictable but that's what makes them so hard to play against if you're an opposition player.

I'd rather they turn it over a few times and even it out with a few goal assist then not get the ball in the first place.

I've been saying it for four years.
