Mora's knee reco ?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

This guy is very, very important to us going forward and his injury pre-season was a huge, huge blow especially on the back of us not having Barlow.

I'm praying that he comes back without any problems and doesn't suffer for form like Palmer. We need him!

Anyone heard how Mora's knee reco is progressing?
How much of difference will it make to Mora injuring in the pre-season as compared to during the season?

It's been going really well as far as I know.
He'll have completed rehab by the start of pre-season so he should be fully fit at season's start.

I saw him at the open training session 2 weeks ago. He is walking around fine, just not back to full training as yet. But he must be very close to resume full training, however they are managing him for a full 2012 pre-season which starts in October/November.

I heard somewhere that he could be training with the main group by the end of the season but will take a while to become match fit, not sure if he will make the magoos by the end of the WAFL season.
If hes ready, it might be a run with the reserves. Which WAFL side is he from?

Cheers Lach. Jeez I always wonder on how much fyfe has improved, how much would've Mora developed, going on how strongly he finished off the season last year.

mora is from peel

i spoke to him when he was watching the peel v west perth game (mick barlows wafl league domination game) and he said his knee was fine and he couldnt be happier with the way it was going. now he obviously isnt going to give anything away to just another mug supporter like me, but he was running up and down the grandstand stairs without issue and there was no limp or sign of injury, so i think its going ok.

my biggest concern for mora is the supporters. now rhys didnt come back in great form, but the expectations on him were ridiculous. we need to temper the excitement and expectations on anthony, because lets face it he has played 23 games total, and really hasnt shown that much as a player yet, certainly not as much as what rhys had..... we cant go on thinking that when he comes back, he will dominate because it just doesnt work like that

Rhys has struggled to be best 30 given our injuries after a full season back. That is the frustration. If he was best 22 I'd be happy, same with Mora after he gains match fitness. On Palmer, I am more frustrated with Harvey and how Palmer has been used than Palmer; Palmer could have done more for us this season.

Spot on!

The thing that sh!ts me is that Palmer was starting to do some good things in the Hawthorn game just before he did his ankle.

Feel sorry for the bloke.

He's had some good times at Freo, but overall I don't think he'll look on his time here with complete fondness.

It's a shame that harvs didn't exercise the same caution with sandi.

That is just a nothing statement. Sandi was rested after 4 weeks with turf toe, he was fine to play, he re-aggravated the injury that is all.

Comparing an ACL to turf toe and subsequent management is ridiculous.

Yeah, not even close to apples & oranges there.

I'm not so sure. Aggravating the same injury is rarely just an unfortunate coincidence IMHO.

Too many players (at all clubs, at all levels) are brought back too soon.

One has a solid ETA, the other doesn't and is purely a case by casis basis.
One is a season ending injury, the other could be anything from a 2 week to season ending injury.

To say 'brought back too soon' would infer there was at least a solid time frame and we pushed it, this was continually rejected before & after Sandi returned the 1st time.

I personally don't subscribe to the theory we rushed him back, Sandi was busting at the chops to get back on the field and testing it out (his toe) very solidly on the track. If you see the vision where he re-sustained it you can see that it was just rotten luck, he was crawling along the ground after the ball and kinda hyper-extended his toe.

Palmer was in ordinary form before his knee anyway. He never seems to have gotten over the confidence issues that came after issues were raised around his kicking and highlighted in the media. I've never seen a player so devoid of any of the things that made them famous. You look at his highlights from his rising start year and you wouldn't believe it was the same player. That's between the ears for mine. And I agree he was starting to show just a little spark in his last couple of games.
Kreuzer is tracking ok, Mora will be fine.

so are you saying that sandi's turf toe was 100%? bull**** it was,i still
scratch my head that harvs didn't rest him & bring him back for the derby.
had harvs taken that path, sandi would doubled his time off.time is a great healer as we all know.it wasn't as if we didn't have a competitive ruck as years gone by.

I agree. And in his best game last year Rhys ended up colliding with poor ol' Mickey B... Seems the bugger just can't take a trick - it's sad really.

Would it be silly to think that bigger players come back better from an knee reco than smaller players? Kreuzer is killing it in his comeback. Goddard did his and came back straight away and stamped himself as one of the best players in the game. I just have a feeling that with Mora's height, weight, speed and agility that he will come back better than Palmer who was never overly athletic. Although Haze did his and came back really well and he was no athelete.

I don't think Palmer is the case to judge all ACL injuries on. When you are full of confidence and get a lot of the footy even if your skills are pretty ordinary you can get away with it. But when your confidence takes a massive hit it really turns to shit. I feel really bad for the guy but his knee can no longer be used as an excuse this year and he has actually gone backwards from last year.

Back to the topic like ppl have said Mora is ahead of his recovery. Did anyone who made it to the open training session notice if he has added any upper body bulk? He will have a big pre-season and while not yet ready to dominate next year he will continue to tease us with a highlight reel.

I remember it differently but my memory isn't what it used to be so I may be wrong. He'd just won the rising star and then did his knee in what was it, round 4 or something? And from what I remember his first 4 games were very good. There were certainly no signs of the form that he came back with.

All the kicking issues in the media were on his return after the knee weren't they?
