....and it could well come from Cog's, Cotchin and Connors. I Also expect N Brown to gradually improve as he gets more match time. Lots of positives and more to come, especially when we won after omitting one of our best players over the last three years and with out Pettifer as well.

Our Depth is getting very very good and it will only get better.

Wouldn't expect Cotchin to have much impact this year. We didn't miss Pettifer at all. Morton more than filled his role. I wouldn't care if Pettifer never plays again, in fact it would be a great step forward.

Morton stoop up very well. Cog's, Connors and Cotchin is not a bad mix to come in at some stage. A veteran, second year player and a quality first year player.

i agree wart101, to say that our depth is starting to look great after smashing a hapless freo is massively jumping the gun

That is true, Freo was a disgrace and never really looked like they're going to be a threat. If the game was played at the MCG I wouldnt of expected anythign less. The impressive factor was we won interstate

The fact we still have Cotchin Cogs and Connors on the sideline and still been able to drop Bowden and cover Pettifer's suspension and WIN shows we are starting to build some viable depth on the list.

Its hard to gauge how good/bad Freo are but a huge win interstate is priceless for our developing team.

The team and especially the backline dominated. I like the balance and promise the back 6 of King Thursty Newman Moore McGuane and Schulz show. Hopefully the addition of Rance for either Schultz or McGuane and we have a back 6 that could serve the club for near a decade if form and injuries don't intervene.

The point I'm getting to is where the hell does Bowden now fit in that back 6 if we are seriously looking to improve and develop into a top team?? If Bowden still wants to play an unaccountable defensive QB role I don't think the team can cope with McMahon, Newman and Bowden all on the park at the same time.

Is JB's time up if he doesn't want to do the team thing and re-invent his role in the team again???? Seems Plough is more than content to see Newman McMahon and Kingy bring the ball out of defence now. Has the game and the team passed JB by now???

Just amazed at the huge swing in performance without JB & Petts in the team and it was very noticeable that we were placing pressure on the opposition ball carriers all over the field a much larger per centage of the time compared to the roo and pie games.

I'm beginning to think the younger guys are just more hungier and prepared to work to improve and hate to say it, but probably better value in our team now even if not quite as skillfull as JB.

What was also impressive was the brand of football be played. We have gouged out many gutsy wins over the past 20 years based largely on G&D and not so much the skills. We won in Subi on Sunday to the tune of 64 points playing a style of football that is similar to those leading the competition. Whether we can sustain that who knows just yet, but we won playing attacking, exciting footy and that makes for a bright future. We play one of those competition leaders this week. :D
