Steve Morris, Richmond, has been charged with a Level Two engaging in rough conduct offence (225 demerit points, two-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Jamie Elliott, Collingwood, during the second quarter of the Round Four match between Richmond and Collingwood, played at the MCG on Saturday April 20, 2013.
In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Collingwood Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Don't have a clip but I saw it and thought there wasn't lots in it, it was a shepherd but he did make contact with his head, and unfortunately that's pretty much an automatic suspension these days. When it happened me and my mate looked at each other and said "2 weeks".

We'll likely accept it but I wonder if the club would be willing to risk 2 weeks to get him off if they feel they can mount a case similar to that which saw Thomas get off the Reid bump from round 1.

It happened right in front of me and because I only had one eye open at the time I thought there was nothing in it. It sounded flush and Elliott felt it for sure so contrary to common belief sleeve tatts dont instantly make you tough after all.

I'd take it. Didn't get a great view at the game, but watching the replay yesterday I think he's getting off with a lighter punishment. Sure it wasn't malicious at all, but pretty much nailed him in the head, and he could probably have lowered himself a touch more to hit Elliot squarer in the body. Didn't look great. 1 is a win.

The inconsistency of the MRP is a disgrace. The AFL's biggest scumrat in Lindsay Thomas gets off just because they clashed heads? Someone tell the players to lead with their heads next time and they'll get off.

Hmm who to play on Walters?
I reckon he was a worry anyway because I feel that Morris suited Ballantyne. Double headache now.

Ballantyne plays more up the ground these days, I doubt Morris would have gone to him.

I reckon Conca can go to Ballantyne if needed.
I've thought the same thing. It wont surprise me if he plays closer to goal now though.

Conca gets exposed when he's played as a back pocket.
Yeah meaning more if Ballantyne plays up the ground.I expect Ballantyne to push forward now for that very reason. If Morris was there he'd just take him but that option is gone.
