Who will it be?

I reckon it will be out of JK, JR, Harts and Fish.

JK will play the vast majority of games, and hopefully kick between 10 and 20 goals.

JR will finally stamp himself in the starting 18, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play every game.

Harts will play some games providing he stays fit. Could play up to 15 games IMO, and hopefully he is our FB by the end of the season.

Fisher will hopefully stay away from injuries and put in a full season, and he could kick around 30 goals for the season.

My vote goes to JR. He will finally justify why we took him at number 9.

Who do you think it will be? Nominate others if you think someone will improve more than the 3 mentioned above.

Nick Stevens.

From what I have heard, played with an injury last year, which really limited his output in 2006. Looking forward to a much better season from Nick in 2007.

Good point, HBF.

Stevo will definitely improve, not only because he will be over his injury, but also because he won't be the number 1 midfielder in the team, and thus will have less pressure on him.

paul bower if injury free will have a big year but i hope they all improve 10 maybe 20% and we will be on the way

Either one of Fisher, Kennedy or Russell. But all three of those guys have had interrupted seasons this year, and certainly did not play a lot of games. All they need is more game time -> confidence, and they will improve.

However, based on the players that did have the game time this year, I'd like Stevens to improve. Actually, i'm expecting he improve. If he can play as well as Scotland did this year, i'll be very happy, and so will the rest of the team/supporter base.

Not having a go at you here Jeremias, but do you realise how loaded that statement is? What is all this talk about Nick Stevens playing better when he isn't the number 1 midfielder? Is it that he can't handle the pressure? If so, he is a professional sportsman, and I didn't see Marc Murphy squirm under the enormous pressure he had on him this year.

"Wont be the number 1 midfielder... and thus will have less pressure on him" and will therefore play better. I don't see Hird, or Buckley, or Murphy crumble under their pressure.

It annoys me how everyone says Stevens will play well again, once he is not our leading midfielder. Why can't he handle pressure? And besides, Simpson, Scotland and young Murphy even Walker at times got heavily tagged this year, and especially Murphy - everyone had high expectations of him, and they had great years, so you can't tell me that pressure is an excuse as to why players can't play well.

I just dont get it  I'm certainly not having a go at you Jeremias. I just dont understand why people make excuses for Stevens, and it's always the same excuse - that he was expected to be our best midfielder, and it was too much pressure on him. I didn't see a young 18 year old crumble under that pressure. I guess it is sad, but it is also good, when the younger players in your club show more leadership than the older ones. I am referring purely to Murphy in that one.

As for the injury excuse - let's not forget that Fevola was playing with dodgy knees, and broken fingers; Walker was playing with a groin injury that required surgery; O'hAilpin had OP and they still managed to play ok.

Is it that we expect too much from Stevens? Is that what people mean when they say he will play better because he won't be the number1 mid, that he will just be able to play ok, and because the other mids will be better, they will be much of a muchness and we won't expect as much from one midfielder in Stevens?

As our latest recruit Joe Anderson said, sport is 90% mental 10% physical.

I expect Jarrad Waite to improve in 2007.

I think he may be feeling a bit of pressure to keep his spot with a few players pushing for selection (as ridiculous as that sounds).

He hasn't really set the world on fire and his kicking needs improvement. I know he has been injured but I think this is a fair comment, especially when you look at other players who can play in a forward role - Betts, Fev, Fisher, Gibbs, Grigg, Houlihan, Kennedy, Kouta, Lappin, Waite, Whitnall, Wiggins.....

Stevens - will be named Catpain and will be injury free. With the much needed assistance of our young guns in the middle, we will finally see what Stevo is capable of.

1) Lance doesn't have players. Stevo will.
2) The club are worried sick he will leave when his contract expires and want to secure him longterm

It is an insult to the club that you think they will appoint someone captain in an attempt to keep him at the club, instead of a more deserving candidate. That's just a ridiculous argument.

Stevo will have the players? Lance has lost the players? Like you know

I can only go by what I have heard or been told - came from a reliable source at board level.

Guys, unfortunately onetwelve is on the money. Our players are as divided as the rest of the place. We need to start working together as one both on and off the field. Until this happens will not be playing finals or even look like it.

Unfortunately we don't have any "real" leaders on the ground to unite the playing group just like off-field.
