most likely match line-ups vs Carlton

I thought cos we have squad threads and ins and out thread everyweek i thought we could have something different to add...

I think by memory Harry o was on Betts and destroyed him last time we played them, but with Garlett showing to be abit harder to handle i'd have
Harry O on Garlett
Maxwell on Setanta
Toovey on Betts

In our forward line i'd expect Thornton and Waite to come back in the side for them.

Btw the way Andrew Walker will most likely miss the game seeing as he did his shoulder again today.

So, Waite probaly will go on cloke cos i think he has done ok on him in the past when they beat us
Thornton/Jamieson to go on Dawes.

In the midfield
Aaron Joseph can be a tagger so he might take a role on one of our midfielders

Now, whos going to tag Judd? or are we going to let him roam free?
My best bets Luke Ball but if he cant handle him i'd have Wellingham on him cos he and thomas dominated him in the past.

Now what is everyone thinking on how the match line-ups be?
cheers.:)

Harry O - Betts
Garlett - Toovey
Yarran - Shaw
O'Hailpin - Brown
Henderson - Reid

Judd - Johnson & Thomas
Simpson - ? Very underrated player, must be closely watched

Walker is out but it is thankfully with a broken collarbone (6 Weeks) and not his shoulders that have popped 45 times on him already.

Bower is a certainty to come back in having missed 4 weeks, I doubt the MC will make any changes other then a straight Swap for Walker. Maybe Waite in for Walker to provide that rebound off halfback and Bower to replace White.

Anyways Thornton won't be back in unless Waite and Bower take each other out on the training track and Ratts refuses to make changes from winning teams.

In: Bower, Waite 25% chance
Out: Walker (Inj), White 25% chance

Who would play on Dawes?
They have 3 real key defenders, Jamison (their best), Bower and Waite (both didn't play yesterday but can play next week).

And they had young White yesterday, but he's likely to make way for Waite and/or Bower.

As for Dawes, I'd say Bower, as Jamison would take Cloke, although they may play Waite in the backline, and this would throw the mathcups into chaos.

I'd say;

Bower on Dawes.
Jamison on Cloke.
Waite on Fraser/Jolly as they go forward.

Ball should go no where near Judd. Wellingham , Thomas and Johnson could rotate on him but also we need to put time into Murphy. He kicks goals and since they don't have any key forwards that kick goals everyweek like the Fev we need to cut out their midfield goals.

I rekon Toovey will take Yarran. Carlton will probably try and get someone like Houlihan onto Shaw.

^^ hmm possibly Football God, but Shaw will kill him in the air. They'll probably try and make him accountable by having someone like Houlihan who can compete with him in the air and is one of the best kicks in their lineup.

Are you kidding?

Judd would absolutely DESTROY Ball.

Ball will probably go on Mclean, looking forward to the match up.

yah i changed my mind later on, ball wouldnt have a chance thats why i was thinking wellingham would take him on.

Wellingham will go to Judd. He is in stellar form, has the pace to go with him and can hurt them the other way. Dane Swan to go head-to-head with the highly unaccountable Marc Murphy, Ball head-to-head with the highly overrated Brock McLean. Macaffer to do a forward tag on Bryce Gibbs, curb his precision off half-back and we'll be in good shape. Thomas can go with Simpson, or vice-versa. Jolly and Fraser will make a mockery of that Freo spud. Pendlebury to run riot.

Harry to take Betts to the cleaners, Toovey to Yarran, Heath to Garlett. Reid to take Henderson, Presti to Sentana if he is fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see Leeroy back to do another number on Kreuzer, but Nate can do the same job. Maxwell to play loose or take whatever other spud they put down there.

Hopefully Bower isn't fit, because he is a good player and will probably take Cloke. But if we play Cloke one-out from FF, I can see him getting the better of that matchup. Dawes to expose White, that little annoying, poor excuse of a footballer Joseph will try to tag the red-hot Didak and be taught a football lesson. Jamison will take Medhurst as usual, hopefully Medders can reverse his form in this matchup. Leon to regain touch this week.

But who cares about matchups against these spooners. We'll smash them if we play 22 Corries.

I think Wellingham will get the job on Judd. Not as a tight tag but he'll be the match up. He was on Watson last week and absolutely destroyed him at the stoppages 7-1. He'll probably get helped at times by other guys like Thomas. We just don't send hard tags on players anymore.

Ben Johnson, Dale Thomas and Dane Swan to rotate off Judd all day, breaking his spirit by about 3/4 time, and we then run away with the game.

I mention Swan because it seems in the first 4 weeks he has been used more and more outside the centre square, ranging from half back to half forward at times.

He also seems to be playing a more defensive game at times, as against StKilda he tagged Hayes for a while, had McDonald in the Melbourne game (probably 50/50 tag) and had Mitchell for a while against the Hawks.

Swanny is almost as quick off the mark as Judd too, and reads the play that well that he could go with Judd, Murphy or Gibbs at any stage/contest.

I'm simply not worried about the Blues, if we play like we have the last 3 weeks as far as intensity and tackling goes, we will win.

I reckon Jonno is the best bet - bigger and stronger than Daisy and quicker than Swanny (just). He runs off half-back anyway so he'll be useful in a turn-over situation.

Swannie would be ideal to sit on Scotland's tail.
Pendles to Murphy
Sidebottom to Gibbs
Beams to Carazzo
Ball to McLean (good call above)
Jolly to bash into Kruezer all day. I reckon we could also bring the Anvil back in for this game just to rough up the lesser experienced Blues forward line.
I think our backline match-ups have been covered perfectly by the OP

We don't need to 'tag' Judd, I really want to see Wellingham/Thomas line up on him and go head-to-head. Make Judd accountable and yes he might get 30 touches, but Wellingham and Thomas together provide just as much of a threat.
