Mozzie Bites coach amos today issued a brief trading statement about their club and trading before heading off for Friday night frothies.

We're revamping our whole list. We hope that within three years, there'll be practically no hint of the putrid scent that wreaks the 'North Melblourne' name. We're the 'Mozzie Bites Fantasy Football Club', a name synonomous with sustained success as twice premiers in the AFLFFL and 'back to back' premiers in the now defunct LFFL.

Tradewise, we're approachable. We don't want fringe 22 players who have already been into the AFL system 5 years. In fact, those type on our own list are quite tradable. We're after picks, and kids with a future. Andrew Swallow, Trengove, Moore, Dylan Roberton, pick 2 et tal are our future. We're under no illusions of where our list is at, please respect that and offer trade with that in mind

Mozzie Bites rookie coach amos gave a brief draft update to the AFL Team Manager community as he met new recruits Tom Swift and Ryan Shoenmakers at Tullumarine aiport this afternoon.

Shane Tuck has expressed interest to leave the Mozzie Bites Fantasy Football Club. While we thank Shane for his service to the franchise over its existence, Shane is aware that the club is going in another direction. He's a fantastic underrated Dream Team stud who knocks up 100s with ease and we have no doubt he'd certainly compliment any club that thought their window were open at the minute. If we're at the other side of the ladder, it's the kind of player I wouldn't hesitate entertaining as a trade in.

amos went on to say, the club would entertain either a draft pick, pick swaps, or a young player for Shane.

Nursing a hangover and a bad night's sleep, rookie AFL Team Manager amos rocked out of bed at 11:47am to be greeted by Team Manager media.

The way I'm feeling at the minutes, guys, I'd trade Swallow and Trengove for a toasted ham, cheese and panadol sanga with a black coffee. Damn my head hurts. Um, we're putting three guys out there who've attracted a bit of interest to date. Andrew McQualter, James Gwilt and Shannon Byrnes are the names. We're looking for some picks and mildly interested in a key forward. We've also got too many KP backs at the minute with Schoenmakers, Maguire, McGuane and Dawson looking decent this coming season, so I envisage to say, one or perhaps two of them will be elsewhere. Our numbers guys says we've got around $1.25M to come off our salary cap next season with Kirky, McMahon, Burton, THornton and one or two others space hogging, so we're kinda equipping ourselves for some extensions there with our National picks, but at the moment I'll sit back and find something for this headache. Some interesting developments have been happening behind closed doors at the Mozzie Pit this afternoon, with Bites coach amos confirming that the pick two trade is being spoken about and he was in active talks with a rival AFL Team Manager coach,

Yes, we can confirm it. We've had discussions this morning via pm, and we'll take them a step further into the coming days, but it's still early days.

Asked about the importance of pick 2 to the team's future, amos explained,

For us it's golden. I'm personally in love with two guys in this draft,then after that I've got a blanket over them, so pick 2, golden. We'll snap up a superstar and then 5 year contracting him as soon as his first season is gone. THey'll be the first bona fide Mozzie Bites so leadership group also beckons. They're the types that you can build your team around, but at the end of the day, if we can see value in trading it away the pick for a deal that sets us up not equally as well, but better in terms of more picks, and a good young player, then we'll consider it.

amos refused to entertain whether the opposition party was peterss or Pie4life, who we both speculated to have been involved in the Wallis undercut earlier this week, explaining,

It's all about confidentiality for both coaches and players, feel free to asked around though, I'm sure there's more than one that would like to get their hands on pick 2.

The Mozzie Bites are excited to inform fans that the endless quest for a key forward this post season has ended. After unsuccessful attempts to lure key targets Kurt Tippet and Chris Dawes to the club, coach amos went one better and nabbed one of the, if not the most exciting players in the game, Liam Jurrah, to the club.

The deal with Brisbane saw the Mozzie Bites trade away Pick 2, but regain a selection 5 places down at Pick 7 along with Jurrah. The Bites still remain well placed in the draft with 2 picks inside the top 10, at Pick 7 and 8.

Jurrah joins young Hawthorn Centre Half Back Ryan Shoenmakers, and West Coast ball magnet Tom Swift as key signing as the Mozzie attempt to revamp the old North Melbourne list of Club Manager whipping boys, to something that has a bright future.

Coach amos was excited about watching Jurrah run around for the Bites,

I'm pumped. You know, it's not about immediate impact for us, it's the long term, but that said, our intention all along was to get a key forward at the club and in all seriousness, they don't come much more exciting than Liam; apologies to Buddy. When I took over the club, I looked at our spine and though, 'Oh wow, what have I gotten myself in for here?', but we'll follow our model, and build around it, and turn our weakness into our future strength

Asked about the difficulty of letting pick 2 go, amos was forthright,

Well, we saw to guys we wanted; Swallow and Day, but being realistic, we probably would have ended up with day. After two, I really think their about the same, so we either invest into Day for 3 to 4 years before he starts to get going, or we pick up a guy that's at that point now, and as a bonus, we'll get a pick 7 thrown in. The Mozzie Bites this morning announced that gun midfielder Steven Salopek would be amongst seven senior players put on the market today. The announcement confirms sweeping changes that were alluded to when Mozzies coach amos joined the competition in Round 11 season just gone. amos has made no secret of his desire to put his stamp all over the squad, and it is beginning to show. Salopek joins perennial dream team stud Shane Tuck, high scoring small forward Shannon Byrnes, ruckman Jamie Charman, key position back pair Goose Maguire and Luke McGuane, small tiger forward Robbie Nahas and finally Raphael Clarke as players amos said were being sounded out. amos spoke candidly about the guys,

We probably got too many small forwards in Jack Steven, Shannon Byrnes and Robbie Nahas so the small forwards are up. Schoenmakes and Zac have FB and CBH locked down for the next 8 or so years so that makes Goose and McGuane quite tradable as well. Sal and Tucky, that's more about making the team mine more than anything

He continued when asked about the state of the squad,

I think it's well documented that we want a new squad, and the challenge in doing it is very exciting. Even our picks now in the national are Mozzie Bite Picks (7, 8, 30) not the North Melbourne Saints picks (2, 26, 33). We're after new Mozzies to join Jurrah, Schoenmakers, Maric, Bail and Swift, but at the same time, it also presents an opportunity to a team whose window is open, to get some nice depth. Win Win trades are always the best ones.

The changes continue at the Mozzie Pit with club favourites Shane Tuck and Matt Maguire accepting offers from Melbourne. The deal saw Dockers livewire Chris Mayne and National Draft selection 32 go to the Mozzies in exchange for Tuck, Maguire and selection 52. Mayne moments ago accepted a four year deal with the Mozzies. Moziie Bites coach amos was happy about the trading process.

I think it was another win win trade for all concerned, and it was a pleasure working with loopy on the details of this one. We both respected the directions each other were going, and it made bargaining a simple process.

Asked what part of the deal the Mozzie were happiest with, amos explained,

We're actually happy with it all. Goose Maguire knew that with the arrival of Ryan Schoenmakers, the CHB position was not going to be his, and with Dawson and McGuane down back, we've probably got too many talls. The deal was probably going to go through at just Shane for pick 32, but Tuck for Mayne seemed perfect for both clubs.

The Mozzies will now be spending their time talking to clubs about practically anyone.

As you can see, things are changing fellas. We've brought in Liam Jurrah, Ryan Shoenmakers, Rohan Bail, Tom Swift, Ivan Maric, we've gone from 2 picks in the top 32, to four picks in the top 32. It's all about change. We'll spend the next few days listening to chatter about the other guys we put up yesterday, and try to get some picks or young kids we reckon go alright in return.

Mozzie coach amos has expressed surprised at the lack of activity around Steven Salopek. Offered up for trade on Friday, it is believed only two clubs have expressed genuine interest. Coach amos admitted,

We're surprised as hell. Seems the cap is hurting a lot of clubs at the moment so the movement of Sal might be harder than we thought.

amos also confirmed that Shannon Byrnes was again generating talk, as too was Daniel Giansiracusa.

The Mozzie Bites this morning secured the services of exciting Hawk rookie Luke Breust. Known amongst Box Hill regulars as 'The Silk Gun', Breust has been tearing up forward lines in the VFL for two years. With the departure of Cam Peterson and Ryan Hooper, Breust looks a lock to be promoted onto Hawthorn's senior list soon that later. Bresut's acquisition presents a problem of too many small forwards for the Mozzie Bites with Daniel Giansiracusa, Shannon Byrnes, Chris Mayne, Robbie Nahas, Jack Steven and Breust all fighting for a couple of spots. amos confirmed that some of those had been the centre of enquiries of the last 48 hours,

Gia has been asked about and by two coaches, while Jack Steven is beginning to gain interest as well.

amos confirmed that Salopek talk had gone dry, but he was still very tradable.

Steven is certainly up for grabs, make no mistake about that. He's a North Saints boy and is feeling a little disgruntled about most of his former teammates being herded out of the club like cattle. Sal needs to dig deep and embrace it though, it's nothing different to the feeling Crawf had at Hawthorn when Clarko pissed off Graham and Nick Holland. Time will tell.

amos also confirmed that he made Breust's nickname up himself and as far as he knew the kid's nickname was Breusty

Mozzie Bites coach amos has expressed delight at securing the services of emerging Melbourne teenager Luke Tapscott. Tapscott joins the Mozzies in a deal that also sees Victoria Eagles' 2nd round draft pick, #24, in exchange for Shannon Byrnes, Robbie Nahas or #71. amos explained the trade,

To secure Tapscott was a big priority of ours. We've got a predominantly young list, so and opportunity of freeing some future cap space by securing a 2009 first round draft pick on a 5 year 101k deal was important. Getting another pick under 30 is also important to our list. We wish Shannon and Robbie all the best at their new clubs.

With a number of clubs finding themselves over the salary cap for the forthcoming Club Manager season, Mozzie Bite coach amos has offered an escape for some, saying the Mozzies would consider using their $400k ish buffer to help out an opposition club should an attractive deal become available. Asked what he'd be looking at, amos offered an insight,

At the moment, we'll be going into the 2010 draft with 8 picks, so we're still looking at ways we can get into the earlier rounds. We're also on the lookout for quality kids. We've got a list of about 20 that we'd take away from clubs if the deal was right, but to be honest it's been a quite weeks or two. We'll sit back to see what comes.

After a 2 week haitas from trading, Mozzi Bite coach amos said there's still players on the outer.

We haven't stopped by all means. Pretty much everyone except thos who've been contracted on special contracts (Roberton, Trengove and Moore) are on the table. We've vrought in about 8 new players, but we want a list of Mozzie Bites.

amos continued on admitting that even his former no go players were on the table for the right price.

Everyone is up for trade, make no mistake about that. We're 400k under the cap and we're reading for fresh young kids and a crapload of draft picks.

Mozzie Bites coach amos today expressed delight at the latest trade by the club today. As promised all along, Steven Salopek's days as a Mozzie were numbered and he was shown the door, along the club's 2nd round (#24). In return, for the pair, the Mozzies received exciting Hawthorn half forward Cyril Rioli, as well a West Coast rookie Koby Stevens. The two clubs also did some pick swapping with Broncos recieving pick 8, in exchange for pick 10, 58 and 77. The trade allowed the Broncos to smash close to $400,000 from their exceeding salary cap. amos explained the Salopek trade,

It was a good trade in the end we think. We've been shopping Sal around for a while now. Actually, Rizzo had accepted pick 6 for Sal before he went AWOL, so that was disappointing because we reckon that was a good get both ways. After that we thought both club and player were going to have to bite the bullet and play on together ala Bachar Houli Essendon style. We had a mid teen offer for him a bit before Rizzo's offer but we knew he was certainly worth something below ten. To get Cyril in exchange for Sal is exciting, especially seeing Junior's on a 5 year deal. That gives a stalward lock in the future, something the club really doesn't have in spades, and some more excitement about the club with a new face and probable captain.

amos continued about the rest of the deal.

Getting Koby Stevens is fantastic for the club. He's just the type we've been crying for this trade period and as soon as we saw his name on the table, we knew he had to be a Mozzie; kids with a bit of magnetic spunk about em, they fit our bill; Koby, Swifty, Tapscott and Bail. They'll join Trengove, Swallow, Moore and Roberton. It's excitiing times at the minute. He comes to the club on a 5 year deal as well, and at mid 250k we think he'll be really important to our future, as well as our cap.

To close the deal, amos said a few pick swaps were necessary,

Knowing the club was going to be taking nine kids in the draft before the trade, swapping pick 8 for 10 and getting some back ended draft picks as change in 58 and 77 was a good finish. Although we have four guys we were really keen on lasting to picks 7 and 8, we still reckon the chance of getting one of them at 7 and and the other at 10 instead of 8 is a possibility. It's a risk, moving down two picks, but Koby and Cyril make it easier.

The Mozzies now lay dangerously close to the salary limit, sitting a mere $6000 under. The transformation of the team this off season has been amazing though; Bail, Breust, Jurrah, Maric, Mayne, Rioli, Schoenmakers, Koby Stevens, Swift and Tapscott have all joined this off season. There's certainly going to be exciting times ahead in a couple of years, especially with over a million dollars of dead money sitting idle in retirements and delistments for season 2011 waiting to be used.

amos confirmed his ears were still open to trades, but with no cap room to move, he admitted anything else was unlikely.

Mozzie Bites head coach amos today announced a revamped leadership group at the Mozzie Pit. Long time serving captain Daniel Giansiracusa has been stood down and replaced by electrifying forward Cyril Rioli. The club confirmed the leadership changes in a fax to league HQ with Andrew Swallow being promoted to Vice Captain.

The Mozzie Bites unearthed Dyson Heppell today, their number 7 selection in the AFL Team Manager Draft. Mozzies coach amos said young Dyson had all the makings to be a future captain at the club. Dyson was the Gippsland Power captain and shared the Morrish Medal in the 18 for their best and fairest.

Asking around the traps what kind of player young Dyson is, Essendon manager of personnel, Adrian Dodoro stepped up to the plate and said the 189cm midfielder is in the mould of Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge.

“He is a bit like Luke Hodge in that he uses the ball really well, is extremely hard at the contest and can play multiple roles – defensive, midfield and forward,” Dodoro said.

“He is a left-footer with terrific leadership attributes and we see him being a 200-game player for the club.

“His crowning glory this year was the preliminary final where he was absolutely outstanding, had a 40-possession game and lifted the team over the line single-handedly.

That game was just after an outstanding 36-possession Elimination final.

“He is the sort of player that we think will be able to play AFL football from Round 1 next year.”

The 18-year-old shone in his appearances for Vic Country in the U18 Championships, winning MCP and All-Australian honours and averages 20 disposals and four tackles.
