MRP / Trib. MRP Lotto thread II

Let’s see how the media try to get Stewart off the Noah Anderson incident. While the intial bump wasn’t high, Anderson’s head slams into the turf and he ends up severely concussed. He had the option not to bump.

In both cases of Archer & Curtis they served time because of the outcome of the action not the action itself.

Jay Clark on Fox just said the the action is the what the MRP are looking at and he hasn’t made contact above the shoulder so he should get off. **** me.
The right decision is stewart doesn’t get suspended.

Ceo and board should have appealed. Thats on us.

Overran the ball, didn’t even attempt to pick it up, lined up the man, elected to bump, resulted in a concussion.

When you are talking duty of care, which is all the shit they fluffed on about with Archer and Curtis incidents this is far worse in every respect.

IF... Stewart escapes suspension for his hit on Anderson
THEN... the AFL should come clean and admit they have changed their MRO interpretations mid-season and the Curtis suspension was incorrect...

but of course they won't...
and it could be argued they haven't changed anything...
vertical blue and white stripes = suspension...
horizontal blue and white stripes = nothing to see here...

5 weeks minus the geelong get out of jail free tax of 2 weeks, back to 3, then a loophole yet to reach the scriptures and I think we'll find Anderson was negligent in his pursuit of the ball and fined $1,500

The contortions they’re going to get them into to explain that away will be like nothing seen before.
Contortions greater than that of a slow motion Anderson

It will be that he couldn't reasonably foresee Anderson's head hitting the ground from his action of bumping.

I hope he doesn't get suspended for that, it's a perfect hip and shoulder.

You choose to bump = You’re responsible for the outcome.

I don’t think it’s a suspension either, but they’ve created a rod for their own back.

Well, except when it doesn’t suit them.

Judge, Jury and Executioner and all that.

Stewart will get off and they will close this 'loophole' like they previously closed the 'head clash' loophole from the perfect bump that Lindsay Thomas got given weeks for then overturned at the tribunal

Jay Clark at half time on the Stewart bump. Described has a very heavy bump and that he “poleaxed” Noah Anderson. Then went on to say….“I’ll be absolutely shocked if he is suspended for this…it is a fair bump, it’s not unreasonable, it’s not excessive, not hit him in the head, he shouldn’t be suspended for it, play on”.

Vs Jay Clark on Paul Curtis tackle:

“This will be a three-match suspension ... it’s a concussion, we treat them as severe brain injuries now. There have been some really interesting precedents over the last 12 months”

So it’s not a severe brain injury when it’s down by a cats player? Righto Jay.

Loves defending certain clubs does Jay.

Geelong coach Chris Scott said Stewart's duty of care for Anderson was "as good as it could have been".
"The AFL has done a really good job over the years of shifting the zeitgeist around the way you should approach contests like that," Scott said.
"Anyone that understands the modern game would be really impressed with the way he approached that contact.
"If you're in a position where contact is unavoidable, you need to be very, very careful.
Cues like ‘do everything you can to avoid head contact, don't leave the ground, turn your body to protect yourself.
"If it's a protective action where contact is inevitable and you don't get them in the head, then you've done everything you can.
"I feel for Noah, everyone loves him, he's a gun player and it was pretty heavy contact to the ribs, but it was to the body.
"Stewie, I thought his duty of care tonight was as as good as it could have been."

Scott has a point. If you ignore the ball and charge the vulnerable player contact is inevitable.

No concussion, no case to answer. That's the bullshit rationale base the league has built for itself. It doesn't matter that blind luck plays a huge role in these situations. That a purely ball-playing act sometimes leads to a concussion and that a purely man-playing act sometimes doesn't.

Cracking bump, in fairness, but all outcome based. If that play was replicated and the victim was concussed, the instigator would be suspended.

I get the grief on here, but we should really just be mad about what they do deem worthy of a suspension rather than what they don't

absolutely, I dont want to see players rubbed out for nothing. Stewart took out their captain fair and thats part of the game. Calls to rub him out is whats wrong with this game.

Wats wrong is Chris Scott getting on his high horse and mounting a detailed defence at his Presser

Coaches used to be fined for less

AFL is run by simpletons
