Posting Stats - End of Season

Season 35 is finally over. Officially. For the Demons.
And it ended exactly as we all would have expected: another well earned loss.

We finished with a season low 315 posts in Round 18, which was no surprise. Our season was pretty much over by the time we got to our second bye, and posting numbers dropped from everyone at the club. Despite this, we still had 17 posters contributing in the final round.

Looking at the season as a whole, we averaged 19.94 posters per week in what was a Bradmanesque end. All we needed was one more poster to not get 0 and we'd have averaged 20 posters per week.

Wosh settled in beautifully and led the team in her first season at the Demons and was the only player in the team to see out the season with posting numbers higher than her average in the final round.
I was the luckiest player in the SFA in Season 35, having the pleasure of posting against the most enjoyable team in the SFA every single round. As a result, my numbers were probably slightly up on previous seasons. And so was my win/loss ratio.
Headless, manangatang, Hate, Tarkyn_24, sante and cooney made up the usual core of consistent posters while both players involved in the mid-season trade (Callums_Guns and Greenery) were key contributers during their time as Demons.

It was great to see Yakker back with higher levels of activity than in recent times. He, along with moginie and DERO, didn't miss a single week.
cartwright also posted every week in what was a very promising first season, and Johnny Karate also hit the ground running. It's unfortunate the rest of the team was winding down at the end of the long season when he joined.

Bluelegs, PMBangers, Marlowe and DemonJim all had great periods of activity but also dropped off at other times, and Proper Gander's return looked promising before real life cut her season short.

jmoo wan, Van_Dyke and cats2rise were around most weeks and were probably all seen even more in the team thread and the team PM than in match threads.

Quivorir and Azarole appeared enough to get a run in matches. Quiv especially did well onfield, and we would have loved to have seen either of them active enough to hold their positions.
Oddhawk and Heardy_101 also popped in a couple of times. Hope to see more from both next season.

Overall, the Demons had a total of 27 posters for the season and averaged 521 posts per game, just over 50% of all posts in all Demons match threads for Season 35.
To have this level of activity in a season that had no periods of onfield success at any time shows the pure quality of the people we have at the Demons. I wouldn't be surprised if the posting at the Demons steps up even more in Season 36 if we see something that even resembles a good onfield season.

Enjoy the off-season break everyone. Time to refresh.

DT Stats - End of Season

The DT leaderboard went right down to the wire, with Tarkyn_24 outscoring Hate by two points in the final round, finishing on top by that margin on 1189.

cartwright finished just 55 points further back after a great debut season, finishing with the highest score for the round. She finished in the top three in 9 of the 16 matches.
sante was the only other Demon to finish with over 1000 DT points, which included three BOG preformances.

I had a fairly consistent season, finishing 5th despite only finishing in the top three on one occasion, and cooney also featured in the top three only once on his way to a 6th place overall position.

manangatang had a strong start to the season but sacrificed his scoring to play in less favourable positions to enable others to shine, while also volunteering to sit out on two occasions as past of the rotations.
Headless also sat out on two occasion, but refused to allow anybody to take his prized position at 2nd interchange, selfishly hogging that position for himself whenever he wasn't volunteering to sit out.

Other notable performances included:
Quivorir led the team in averages with 84.5 ppg from his two matches. That kind of form over the full season might have been a game changer for the team. If only we'd seen more of it. Hopefully next season.
Johnny Karate also finished with a higher average than the total stat leaders despite finishing the season with a 35. Prior to that, he was averaging even higher than Quiv. The Demons rookies both showed great signs.
DERO started the season in incredible form. Did he do enough to claim an All-SFA position? There is a possibility that he could lead the back pockets in DT and posting but both fell off as the season progressed. Has he done enough to push one or two flankers or a third key defender out of the team?
Johnny Karate
cats2rise had a great game in his milestone match. We lost.

Starting Positions - Season

While there were quite a few changes throughout Season 25, the Demons still managed to remain fairly settled in their positions for the majority of the season. This may come as a surprise to some, given the team's match form in Season 35.
25 Demons got a run with more than 20 players pushing for selection on any given week for large parts of the season. As a result, several active core players volunteered to sit out in selection rotations on one or more occasions.
We have been in this situation previously, but not to the extent we experienced this season.

Several Demons were named in the same position for all 16 matches. These included: cooney, DERO, Hate, jmoo wan, PMBangers, sante, Tarkyn_24 and Hate
Greenery, Callums_Guns and Johnny Karate also played in the same position for all games they were available for selection with the Dees. Headless filled the specialist 2nd interchange position anytime he wasn't volunteering to sit out to give others a run. Yakker and DemonJim wer also named in only one position other than the one time they sat out in rotations.

Bluelegs, cats2rise, cartwright, Marlowe, moginie and I all played primarily in one position with only short stints outside our primary positions.

The players who moved around most were manangatang, Wosh and Proper Gander.
PG was moved from FP to HB before sitting out for a month. Then moved between HB, W and FP for her short return.
Wosh started in the midfield, then played FP, W and INT (with a rotation to EMG) before finishing the season at Full Forward.
Mang played wing every week until the middle of the season and from that moment on rarely played in the same spot for two consecutive weeks. From Round 9 onwards his positions included (in order): EMG, FP, FP, INT, FP, EMG, INT, HF, INT. Clearly sacrificing his own game to enable stability for others.

How will positions look in Season 36? Will there be a shake-up? Will the team stay as stable throughout the season? Or will we see more changes due to posting and performance?
Whatever the case, the onfield performance WILL improve dramatically. Bring it on!

Great work sausageroll even if you didn’t tag me for the majority of the season
If this comment had come from Tarks I'd have taken it as a resume-worthy achievement. But in your case I actually feel bad.

I'm going to go back and edit any Tarkyn_24 tags to sante tags :thumbsu:

Great work, sausageroll.

I must say, personally, I am very grateful for your contributions to the team, for they have kept us away from Kennedy Parker being able to fold us for being an inactive, second-page team thread club.
It's a shame so many teams will be lost this off-season, but Cloud_ really had no choice. It was the logical stance.

It should be easier for us all next season once I unveil my "Go Team" bot.
