Before throwing away another promising KPP, isn't it time to see if we can use him to fill one of our biggest problem areas?

He has good size and good hands, his workrate has come into question but maybe that could inprove if he was the one doing the chasing....

Thoughts??

Would rather Campbell at Fullback even though he's not exactly quick off the mark.

I recall us using him at CHB in the 2006 NAB Cup. He went alright despite sporting a shocking haircut, but was eventually overtaken in his role by Michael Johnson.

I remember that game, he lined up on Wayne Carey and did alright.
I tthink he is worth a shot at CHB.
Tell him to run straight at the footy and see what happens.
I think he was a CHB when he was drafted.
If he is to stay he has to get more involved in the game for longer, lay a tackle and take a few pack marks.
Unless he starts to do this, his career anywhere is over.

Wayne Carey in 2006? You sure?

Did he really use to be a FB. I am now suprised we havent put him their previously

So wait a second Freo boys, your man Murphy has not been able to hold down a spot in the Freo forward line (despite him being developed specifically for a forward line role).

Yet despite this, you lot think he will some home become a key position defender???

For me, if a player has been developed as a forward yet still cant hold a spot in the team, then the odds are he will struggle even more down back.

You've got a good point, but there have been other factors involved. Murphy was heading in the right direction in 2006 in a two pronged attack with Pav. Then the recruiting staff made the mistake of bringing Taz over and thus (in my opinion) hampening his development. When he makes the jump from WAFL to AFL he is not playing the same forward role for Freo, which is another issue. Anyway he is not going anywhere as a forward, so why not try him as back man.

what? it is far easier to develop into a defender than it is a forward

ben rutten for instance was nearly delisted by adelaide a few years ago before they swung him down into defence

I have been saying this for nearly 3 years now, he was a swingman as a youngster and played down back for us a little here and there. Would be very well suited to FB or CHB IMO and we should give him the 09 season there.
