On Sam Iles, I think he's a glowing example of footballer first. He's got the physical attributes to a more than satisfactory level but much like Rieschbieth he just presents like someone who should be playing AFL. He has played senior football in the Southern Premier League for Clarence, along with top prospects for next year in Jack Riewoldt and Mitchell Thorp, a lot of the year.

I watched almost all the games he played at VFL level and he just seemed at home, at a senior level.

Todd Grima will be a steal if he clears the Pre-Season draft. Reminds me of Jarrad Waite a lot with his agility.

It is really interesting at how Tassie players get branded because they don't play TAC cup anymore and they're in division 2. I think what a lot of people forget is that Tassie recruits have, more often than not, played atleast a season of senior football in the SFL or NTFL. In the case of Lonergan, Grima and Iles they where playing VFL games, at a period where the Devils where really hard to break into.

Can't wait for the rookie and pre-season drafts. Should be just as exciting as the national draft. Isn't there still another list lodgement to come? Does that mean we can delist another player? Reckon we should've picked up lucy at 64 and got rid of someone else to make room for mclaren.

I think we have enough talls as it is and pick 66 doesn't sound like he's any better than Livingston for pace off the mark at fullback.

We need more midfielders like Heath Hocking!;) :p

I would have preferred to have drafted another 17 year old midfielder who wasn't eligible for the rookie draft.

Agree we need midfielders to add to the talls we got on Saturday. Perhaps Jace Bode is another player we'd consider.

Happy to have Murphy on board. He looks the real deal.

Go Murph!!!

I can see how you'd come to this conclusion. This man gets the ball a lot. As a Fitzroy supporter throughout the 70s, it was a major problem that our best player, John Murphy, coudn't kick for ****.

His son has inherited this disability, from what I've seen of his 'highlights' from last year's national championships. There appears to be a leg weakness which prevents him from "driving through the ball", as opposed to what he does now, which is to merely chip it.

This is not to say that John's son couldn't develop into a great footballer. I'm just saying that there may be periods of frustration while he overcomes his deficiencies, as his father managed. Don't expect a ready-made footballer. If he overcomes this shortcoming, that could be the making of a 200 game player.

Just don't be too harsh.

You've got to be joking?........You've formed this opinion after watching the highlights on the 1 hour Draft Show where they showed about 3 or 4 clips of Murphy!............Try watching the rest of the game and the whole U18 carnival before making stupid statements like this?

Sounds like someone is a little bitter to me.
