He wont play AFL next year anyway, doing Year 12, perfect time to baulk up :)
Well, he is the next Dal Santo!
The AFL will probably move heaven and earth to get him to the Lions given his connection and the so called merger. And the conspiracy against Carlton will continue and they'll find a way to stop us getting him!

What position will Hurn play at AFL level? Too slow to play in the midfield? Not mobile enough to play a key position.

Sure, his clearence work is great, but after a stoppage, what damage will he do to the opposition? Will he be able to keep up with his opponent? We've all seen how Kouta struggles to be accountable.

What position does Cameron Ling play? He isn't quick but is still a good player, albeit not a leader as Hurn has been called.
Kouta isn't a fair comparison considering his body is wrecked and if Murphy and Ellis aren't there, who would you pick?

Hurn carried OP into the championships like Franklin, so I wouldn't write him off because of a poor series. Also given cricket the flick to concentrate on footy!

The guy you quoted was talking about Ellis not Murphy.

I realised that and I meant to say(low on blood sugar at the time:o )Ellis will probably end up in Navy Blue next year.As I still can't see why Murphy, despite the rumours would choose Carlton over the Lions with all of Carlton's problems.

i think he is thinking about the city he wants to live in, more than the team.

There's a plethora of midfielders who get by without great speed, especially tough inside players. Also, I believe his fitness will improve. Remember, Hurn has never really had a proper pre-season. Instead he's been playing cricket. And despite that disadvantage he's still regarded as one of the best players in this year's draft.

There's no easy way out for Murphy. Brisbane will be going through a rebuilding phase starting next year. That's why they're so desperate to get Murphy. Either way, his team will likely be doing it tough next season. Therefore the only thing Murphy needs to consider is where he'd like to live.

I would be happy with finish 15th, I think anyone content with getting the wooden spoon needs to remember that we're the club who have only got 1 wooden spoon in 100+ years and were the last the original club to get the wooden spoon. Every single time we finish last is a stain on our club's history and must be avoided at all costs. If we finish 15th, we still get picks 2 and 4? Can pick up some useful players if we use our picks wisely and hover in the bottom 8 for 2 or so years while we contiue low enough to get good draft picks, but not so low as to get the wooden spoon.

I see someone said Murphy had dinner with Pagan last week. He's in Brisbane today at the game at the Gabba (with his folks sitting at the table next to my other half at the presidents lunch) so hopefully there'll be some clearer info about his thoughts and choice in the next couple of weeks.

They've got the lions wives/girlfriends and families doing an absolute hospitality fest with the murphy's over the next 48 hours around Brissie so as usual the Lions aren't leaving any stone unturned to impress the Murphs!

I know where I would rather live.Anyone watching the match today.Warm, sunny fullhouse crowd.

The MCG is freezing, no one there.

Playing alongside your idolised player in Luke Power.
Great lifestyle to play footy in.

Why would the Hawks go for another big KPP when they drafted Buddy and Roughy last year
think Clark is a Key position player/ruckman... even though we went after Buddy and Roughead last year.. doesn't mean we are still covered everywhere. Clark sounds like he could turn out to be an Adam Goodes type player, which is what we are after really with Spider getting on and having only 2 seasons left with us.

But yeah Ellis, Clark, Kennedy are the type of players we'd be looking at.
Carlton would have Hurn, Murphy and perhaps Dowler on their shopping list

If you are loking for a Goodes type of player then Pat Ryder is the better bet.
Our club is apparently interested in

Marc Murphy
Mitch Clark
Austin Lucy

I would prefer Hurn to Mitch Clark and take Ryder as the best tall player in the draft.

I think we have to prey Murphy doesnt go F/S, just for the fact we can have either Murphy or Ellis. That is of course if we do finish 2nd bottom.
It would be bad news if we couldnt get one of them...

Hurn wouldnt be on our list id think, Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge, Ries, Lewis are all his type of players.

Id be keen for:

1. Murphy
2. Ellis
3. Hurn
4. Dowler/Clark

We need to get what we need I think. We have drafted tall developing types such at Waite, Fisher, Walker and Russell along with Simpson who is an outside player so we probably need Murphy and Hurn. Jones is another that is a going to be a great inside player.
