Murphy should go

Justin Murphy is the worst player in the AFL at the moment. he does nothing, he is weak and one of the most heartless players i have ever seen. all he does is jog around in circles, he doesn't sprint, he doesn't man up, he doesn't chase and he won't go in and get his own footy. How he gets a game week in and week out is a bloody joke. It is players like Murphy why Carlton is having a bad year.

Why won't Pagan play Glen Manton, he is playing well for the bullants and he is a better player than Mick Martyn and Luke Livingston who have been playing in the backline.

Another player who should be getting a game because he impressed me last year is Campbell. he is also playing well for the Bullants and is still not getting a game. I am not having ago at Pagan, i am just saying I would like to see them get a game in the future and for the love of god NEVER EVER give JUSTIN MURPHY another game of AFL football again.

No argument from me about Murphy, all the talent in the world but just doesn't show any heart consistently enough for the top level.

Manton is winding down towards retirement and is a lot shorter than Martyn and Livo and we need the height back there. Livo is in and out of the side at any rate.

I'd like to see Campbell again this year too and he is doing okay in the VFL but apparently his fitness is not quite there at the moment. He seems a straight shooter with a bit of toe and we badly need pace.

With Norman, Waite, Fisher, McCormick and Simpson making their debuts this year on top of a handful of debutants last year, I am not about to bag Pagan for his selections and opportunities given to players.

We always enjoy playing against Murph, especially given the circumstances around his departure.

You are worried about Matty P&P?

I thought given his adlibbing to get a 50 and go within 26 seconds of completing a huge comeback last year would give your boys motivation against Lappo?

What is his record like against the Cats incidentally? I haven't noticed the trend if there is one.

Very worried mate.

Geelong have struggled to deal with small forwards, and we've also struggled with guys who possess any kind of leg speed.

Put those two together, and you have a huge risk.

I know Matty has been playing up the ground, but if played deep in the forward line, he'll bag 4-5 goals.

He's not done anything special against us, but in the past, we've had Jarad Rooke and Brenton Sanderson to curb his goalkicking.

With Rooke now tagging the oppositions best midfielder (McLeod last week), and Sanderson playing in career worst form, we don't really have a decent matchup for Matty.

Geelong are playing an extraordinarily tall team this week, so if Whitnall doesn't play, i wouldn't be surprised to see Matthew Scarlett or Dash Milburn having first crack at Lappin.

All I'll say about Justin Murphy is I'm glad he is no longer running around disgracing the Geelong jumper.

what were the circumstances for Murphy was leaving Geelong. Was he sacked or traded to return back to carlton

He was traded back to Carlton, after throwing a hissy fit about not being accepted at Geelong.

The fact that he spent each week with his old Carlton teammates might have had something to do with that lack of acceptance.

Then there was the Mad Monday incident...........

He had found his niche but really he was getting to the fall of the ball or having it dished out to him, somebody who can kick like Murphy should eat those up. I maintain that he should never venture beyond half forward ever again. Use it where it works Denis!

Murphy has flashed that sort of ability throughout his career. Think he kicked 5 in a game for Richmond in his first year. On his bad days he looks awful. In his 10th year so I guess it's too much to expect him to develop into a consistent player now.

Allan was a big surprise. Seemed to be just OK in the VFL and really thought he would struggle at AFL level. But 21 disposals, 12 marks and 24 hitouts is a terrific comeback game.

Murphy dines out once a year, last year it was his tagging role on Buckley that had us all in raptures. After he has that one starring game, he teases us for the rest of the year in expectation of some more but they never eventuate.

He will still be booted, traded, delisted or beheaded at the end of the season. We cannot afford to carry players who only turn it on once a year. Maybe if he can sneak in another blinder like today we might get something for him at the end of the season ??

I'm yet to see how Murphy goes for the remainder of the season before making the call on him.
