Just as a general comment; has the standard of the mfl dropped a fair bit over the last few years? I think it’s fair to say Nathalia’s team this year wouldn’t have beaten their team from a few years ago. Tongala, Numurkah and Congupna’s teams wouldn’t have made it to prelim finals in the past. Not to mention the interleague side has been tumbling down the rankings. Thoughts? Reasons?

Quality has certainly dropped. Think teams still have some top end quality but the bottom 5-8 are getting worse and worse. Happening in a lot of leagues unfortunately. Nobody wants to play anymore

Yes, but why should it be? Cobram, Moama, Echuca United, Mulwala; all towns with burgeoning young populations. Line them up against Euroa, Rochy, Mansfield, Tatura. It’s inconceivable that the gap in standard is so profound. If the mfl clubs pulled their finger out and got over the ridiculous inferiority complex it has with the gvfl it really should be a premier country competition. You can’t tell me that in the long term Euroa or Rochy could outmatch a Cobram or Moama as a sporting club. Why should the league be regarded as a “community/district” comp?

Mul , Echuca United , Moama are all twin towns which have majpr league ( gvl / o&m ) teams in them who carry the elite status, whilst the Cobram area has strong competition from soccer which is only about to get greater with the new soccer complex being built . You are also comparing the smallest populations in the gvl who aside from rochy ( who have a great ability to draw from surrounding district comps) struggle to regularly compete in the GVL.

Its a major league, all leagues in the district have dropped off steadily in the past 5+ years, can only comment on GV, Murray and KDL from experience, but all are definitely on the decline, obviously Picola would be tracking the other way due to their off field leadership .

Just witnessed a video of an absolute putrid act that occurred during the under 17 game. Rumblara player number 25 king hitting another player who was just walking past him. Viewing this action I would suggest a 12month ban would be appropriate.

Yep kicked 130 goals in 20 games but finals Series was below par like his team with 4 & 1. The latter was P........ rain and ball hardly got down to him. Been a bit of a talking point on here about him going onbsll in the 2nd half and doing some undisciplned stuff. A goal machine regardless of what people say about him.
