It's also conceivable that your assessment is influenced by the fact that Newman is on our list.

I have no doubt Newman's off-field behaviour caused a few concerns and therefore his draft position may not be reflective of his talent. I know that Port put a line through him based on him these concerns.

However having watched both of them play, raw talent wise, Garlett is the much much better prospect.

I think Newman is a super talent and would hate to see him leave, but if someone offered me the chance for a straight swap I definitely would take it.

I disagree that Garlett is the much better prospect. The only game I've seem them both play in at colts and Murray kicked 5 goals with 33? posessions from the midfield, whilst Dayle had 28 (I think) and kicked 6? goals, playing as a high HFF/forward. I thought they were fairly even then. :)

Did they just kick it to each other all day?

Probably, although I remember one of Garlett's goals was breaking away from the wing and sprinting, with ball in hand, into the F50. He didn't need anyone else's assistance. :)

Edited for cheap gag

Nice. Do you think he have it between the ears to make it as an on baller at AFL level?
Garlett or Newman?

I'm undecided on Garlett, but think Newman does.

I'd like simpson to sit newman down, say in no uncertain terms, i dont know you personally yet like woosha did, you obviously have talent, but you have a pre season to impress me or you are out the door. Ala Ross Lyon and walters, would love to see it pay dividends, think newman can be very handy if his head stays screwed on

Honestly, I think he'll be a bit more settled after Dec 16th and able to put his mind to the job a lot better than the last year.

Garlett likes Melbourne. Like a lot of kids his age he would like to get out of town. I wouldn't read to much into it.
