As I'm typing this, Murali has 8 out of 8 Zimbabwe wickets in the Second Test with his full figures being 26-15-32-8. Jim Laker's record may be gone after 46 years.

Jim Laker took 10-53 and Anil Kumble took 10-74

At the moment 'chucker' is in 5th spot for best inning figures. George Lohmann took 9-28, Jim Laker took 9-37 (same match as his 10-53), then comes Murilitharan (currently 9-51) then comes Richard Hadlee (9-52), Abdul Qadir (9-56), Devon Malcolm (9-57).

exactly the right call Dipper, done it myself in a game many moons ago, even better, go for a handled the ball to see if they appeal!!!!!!

the bloke is a chucker, but thanks to Dalmiya the race card has been played and cricket is the loser.

And he won't get called for chucking in Australia ever again, because they will now be having 2 International Umpires officiating at every test match (not sure if this will apply to the one day series)

i dont think he is a chucker...but thats just my opinion

he will most probably end up with the most test wickets!

What did you run yourself out just to stop some poor bloke getting all 10?

You've been supporting Millwall too long Davo!:D

Before you all get so excited about Murali's action, at least have a look at the following site:

www-ieem.ust.hk/dfaculty/ravi/murali.html

Everyone goes mad about his action without really looking at it. I don't know whether it's a form of racism or simply competitiveness that prompts it, but it is misinformed.

He doesn't get called because his action has been cleared, not because Dalmiya has played the race card.

Plus, he proved himself a perfect gentleman over the whole chucking scandal (more than we can say for Ranatunga), and fought his way back from a potentially career-ending situation to become a genuinely talented bowler. So why some of you feel the need to slag him off is a bit perplexing to say the least.

And for Hilly's benefit, Murali's average away from home is 27.85 (48 in India, BTW). So I'd say he does all right outside the subcontinent.

Hilly,

I have seen that page before and it only convinces me more that he throws!!!!!

How blind are people, in frame seven, his arm is bent, in frame nine, its straight.

Please tell me how that is not a throw.

"Chucking" is open to interpretation so it's hard to say whether or not a certain bowler throws the ball.

Too much fuss is made about "chucking" anyway.

There is no doubt he is a chucker. Simply, u cannot straighten ur arm when u bowl, he does it every fricken ball. Therefore, he is a chucker. I can't understand people defending this sly little cheat. I've seen his action on a computer simulation, it clearly shows his arm straightening. Sure, Murali can go through Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, let's see him play some cricket against decent sides. Whatever happens though, throwing makes the ball spin more, so every wicket he takes is a hollow one that should be stricken from the records...

i dont see how, it is like taking drugs, it gives the bowler such an unfair advantage over the batsmen, and other bowlers as well.

Ah that is the thing, how do you know that it "gives the bowler such an unfair advantage"?

Muttiah has NO advantage, that is the way he is, he doesn't do it to get an advantage and anyone that thinks he does it deliberately is either a) jealous or b) racist

BTW I think he shouldn't be playing test cricket atm

You don't think that chucking off-spinners gives you an advantage??? Well, go into the backyard and bowl some offies with a normal 'bowlers' action. Then do it with Murali's chucking action, watch the difference in turn u get. Little wonder he gets his big offie to turn a mile. It is cheating and exactly the same as taking drugs. He should be banned and his records disregarded..

Does he chuck on every single ball bowled?
