After a v.brief back and forward with Seppo, I’ve decided to look after the MVP voting again for the 2012 season. This thread is just to announce things, we'll kick things off for tonight's game in a separate thread (unless the mods think otherwise). Basically it will work the same as it has in recent years. For those not familiar with how I did it last year, this is how the rules work.
BF posters post their votes for players after the game. Posters can vote within the following boundaries:
BYB (Best Young Bloke)
I’m also going to try and do the BYB award as well. Voting will be very simple though, simply pick 1 ‘young player’ to nominate for the BYB Award who you think was the BYB.
A ‘young player’ for our purposes will be any player who is either a.) 24 years or less at the start of the season AND has played less than 30 games or b.) not played any games at AFL level.
For the Round 1 game at Subi, for example, the eligible ‘BYB’ players named are:
Mellington, Pearce, Clarke, Pitt (emg.)
The total players eligible (including Rookie listed) are:
Clarke, Zach
Crichton, Jesse
Crozier, Hayden
Faulks, Peter
Forster, Alex
Mellington, Josh
Mengeola, Sam
Michie, Viv
Morabito, Anthony
Neale, Lachie
Pearce, Clancee
Pitt, Jayden
Roberton, Dylan
Roberts, Gavin
Schloithe, Haiden
Sheridan, Thomas
Spurr, Lee
Sutcliffe, Cameron
Walters, Michael
Wilson-King, Jordan
Comments, suggestions etc. welcome.
BF posters post their votes for players after the game. Posters can vote within the following boundaries:
- No more than 15 votes can be given by any one poster, typically allocated 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - but any other combination is allowed including votes totalling less than 15 votes.
- No player can get more than 5 votes in a single game
- Fractions aren't allowed and are rounded up as long as the above rules aren't broken, in which case they are ignored
- Anybody who lists ambiguous votes such as "1 vote for player x/player y/player z" have their votes included in that order as long as the above rules aren't broken
- Any blatant donkey votes were ignored (eg. votes for opposition players), but legitimate votes amongst them are included as long as the above rules aren't broken
- Other than that, I just use the educated guess technique
