I am currently doing summaries for every club. Adelaide is the first club I did. Here It is:
Adelaide Crows
The Adelaide Crows proved many wrong by progressing significantly. The crows were hyped up to be bottom four contenders before the start of the season, however they concluded their season on a tremendous note, finishing 5th. This is an outstanding result for the club.
Adelaide still possesses an extremely strong side. They have a variety of key forwards in Hentschel, Gill, Walker, McKernan Tippett and Sellar, however I still see this as a weakness at this stage. All of those players have a lack of AFL experience, but will only get better. Adelaide is a tremendously versatile side. Porplyzia, Vince Douglas and Goodwin can play midfield and forward. Edwards, Mcloed and Symes can play back or mid. Then you got swingmen in Bock, Stevens and Johncock. This creates various options when the team is struggling.
Adelaide’s Best 22 in my opinion:
B: Brad Symes – Ben Rutten - Graham Johncock
HB: Tyson Edwards - Nathan Bock - Andrew Mcleod
C: Nathan Van Berlo – Scott Thompson - Bernie Vince
HF: Jason Porplyzia - Kurt Tippett - Simon Goodwin
F: Brett Burton – Taylor Walker - Richard Douglas
R: Ian Maric - Chris Knights - Robert Shirley
INT: Brad Moran Scott Stevens - Michael Doughty - Patrick Dangerfield
Unlucky: Brent Reilly – Trent Hentschel - Nick Gill - Jonathon Griffin - David Mackay
Brett Burton – Is currently injured At the moment, thus meaning he will not play early on in the season. At his best, he is easily one of the best medium forwards in the AFL. He is very hard to match a defender on him due to his strengths. He is fast and a very strong mark.
Taylor Walker – An extremely highly rated young kid who is believed to have the attributes of a superstar. He is believed to be the Adelaide Crows superstar forward. Neil Craig has great faith in the kid too. He believes he will make a huge impact on the field as soon as he debuts.
Richard Douglas – A versatile player who can play midfield or forward. He can have his day and kick goals but can be quiet at times. Is still only 20 and has a lot of time to improve his performances and consistency. 2010 will most likely be his breakout year.
Jason Porplyzia – This kid is just a star. He had is breakout year in 2008 and is looking to improve in 09. He kicks goals and perpetrates many clearances. Very clean disposal and has a very solid and strong body. He is one of the most balanced players I have ever seen. Rarely loses his feat.
Kurt Tippet – Kurt displayed some promising potential last season. He has shown that he is more than capable of taking a great mark or kicking a tremendous goal. I believe he is a very similar player to Cameron Mooney.
Simon Goodwin – Proved to us this season that he is capable of playing up forward. I thought this was a superior move by Neil Craig. Has made room for some kids to develop in the midfield, and also got the best out of the aging Simon. Will have another great year in 2009, without a doubt.
Nathan Van Berlo – What a great season this bloke had. Absolutely dominated and has proved to be one of Adelaide’s best midfielders. At the age of 22, I believe he still has a lot of great years ahead of him. Expect more attention from the taggers of opposing teams.
Scott Thompson – Top 10 midfielders in the AFL. He can play either in the midfield or up forward. I remember there was a game where many of Adelaide’s forwards were missing. He decided to play up there and BANG! Absolutely dominates the game.
Bernie Vince – Had a tremendous season and at the age of 23, he had too. Has finally locked himself in the best 22 and is an extremely vital player to the Crows. He and Porplyzia demonstrated what they can do. I believe Bernie will be a star half forward / mid in the coming seasons.
Ivan Maric – With the departure of Hudson and Meeson as well as the retirement of Biglands, Maric was left to lead the inexperienced Adelaide ruck division. Has a very solid body and has the ability to kick goals which is a vital attribute for a ruckman to possess. Due to his pre-season injury, he had to battle his way back in the team and he successfully did so.
Chris Knights – Chris was an absolute steal in the 2004 draft going at pick 56. He has progressed very well throughout the year and racks up a lot of the ball. The only real downside to his game at the moment is his kicking. Hopefully he works on this during the pre-season.
Robert Shirley – Would not be in the 22 if it wasn’t for his tremendous tagging ability. He shut down a variety of superstars throughout the season. He needs to continue to be consistent with his tagging or else he will be replaced.
Andrew McLeod – Had another good year as he has been doing for quite a while now. Played more up the ground, however I believe his position is as a running back man/ wing. The great thing about him is that he is able to play in a range of positions and succeed in doing so. Will not improve significantly next season due to his age.
Nathan Bock – This guy finally proved what his capable of this season. Obtain an All-Australian selection as the centre half back is just phenomenal. He is no doubt one of the top defenders in the game at them moment. The great characteristic about his is that he can defend as well as rebound extraordinarily.
Tyson Edwards – Going backwards, but is still a great player. I will expect him to retire at the end of next season. He can play midfield, forward and back which is a great factor. Don’t expect his aging legs to improve next year.
Graham Johncock – Did not have the greatest of seasons, due to some offield issues which did vitally affect his form on the playing field. Expect him to have a more consistent year next season because he is currently undertaking a lifestyle course as well as training hard in the pre-season.
Ben Rutten – One of the best shutting down footballers in the game. Gets the job done regularly and is a key asset in the Adelaide defense along with Bock. I believe they are possibly the best combo in the AFL.
Brad Symes – After struggling to obtain a game at Port Adelaide, it was a successful move to depart to his rival club. He received many possessions and rebounded well from defense. The only real flaw in his game is his kicking.
Brad Moran – Probably the clubs second best ruckman. He began to show some impressive signs in the seven games he played. He booted six goals and if I recall correctly, there was a game where he utterly dominated. More game time will see additional improvement.
Scott Stevens – Can play either end of the ground. Not the greatest of players, however he can have his games. He is a solid contributor at best in my opinion. I remember he totally conquered a game in the final series or round 22. He will have a similar sort of season next year.
Michael Doughty – Had one of his personal best seasons this year. Proved many critics wrong by averaging 21 disposals throughout the year. He is a solid contributor who puts 100% every game. For his sake, I hope he has a similar sort of season in 2009.
Patrick Dangerfield – This guy is an awesome player to compliment his awesome name. He began to receive a few games late in the season and continued to advance exceptionally well. Too early to predict his career, however I believe it is safe to say that he will be a good player.
Backline Summary – I believe it is no doubt one of the best backlines in the AFL. It consists of star key positioned players such as Bock and Rutten. Their smalls can both rebound and defend at an exceptional rate. One of the key characteristics to the Adelaide’s backman is their pace. Doughty, McLeod, Symes and Johncock are all extremely speedy. This assists them both defensively as well as when they are attacking.
With the loss of Bassett, it may cause some concerns. It is always good to have a player who can play both small and tall. Scott Steven’s could possibly fulfill this role to a excellent manner.
Midfield Summary – The midfield has a mix of youth and experience. It consists some experienced players in Scott Thompson, Robert Shirley as well players like McLeod, Goodwin and Edwards who have stints in the midfield. The midfield also consists of high-quality youngsters such as Van Berlo, Vince and Knights. They are showing very good signs at the moment and are a dominate midfield.
Forward Summary – Adelaide’s smalls are absolutely brilliant. Burton, Goodwin and Porplyzia are amongst the top small forwards in the AFL. Douglas is still developing and at the moment looks to be a solid contributor. Their tall forwards, as I have stated may be a concern in 2009. They all have a lack of experience, but hopefully they will be ready for 2010.
Overall, I believe the Adelaide Crows have a strong determined side, however a lack of experience from their key forwards may affect them slightly. They have a mix of experience and youth throughout the team which is positive. I see them finishing around 5th-8th. I wish all the best to the Adelaide Crows in their 2009 campaign.
There may be many spelling or grammar errors becuase I am only 14. Constructive criticism is recomended.

Also Mackay must be in the best 22 next year... as for who goes out to make way for him, that's a harder question
