had a few listens now; it's a great album. few deadset bangers, couple of boring tunes as well but whatevs. can totally understand the fanbois claiming it as a masterpiece and p4k droppin the 10.0, but i don't really think it's interesting enough to be considered a hip-hop classic. for instance, im listening to ill communication now and that is a genuine masterpiece imo as it's still fascinating 16 years on. on my third listen of mbdtf i already found myself skipping tunes. :-/

So do Clipse (Malice & Pusha-T).

Lupe is a quality rapper, and yes in terms of writing raps he can and has come up with strong albums, however his ability to come up with that production doesn't even land in the same stratosphere as Kanye, nor does his ability to learn how to create and mix in singing within these songs (and I'm not just talking about choruses either).

I realise this sounds like I'm sledging Lupe since I'm trying to argue for why he doesn't possess the same qualities Kanye does, but having said the above, I do believe Lupe is one of the best there is today and is most definitely the future of the genre. He's also more than just a rapper that can rhyme choruses, as shown with his creativeness in the track 'dumb it down' for example with the conversation that transpires between the dumbed down person and himself.

I do have one criticism of the album and it's the Chris Rock skit. Should've been a new track that Blame Game immediately flowed onto (like who will survive in america and how that is a new track immediately following lost in the world), rather than a skit tacked onto the end of the track.

I plan on listening to this album a lot, as is the intention with any great album, and I can't be ****ed having to listen to such a long skit (as funny as it is) each and every time blame game ends.

I havent heard his new shit. To be honest, I don't rate him all too highly. For me, he's a good-solid emcee and backs it up with his insane ability behind the scenes.

There are atleast 20 rappers who do it better IMO. Lyric-wise. He's good-solid and he's marketable. He's a guy who could put out 5/10's and sell well.

I'll listen to this album soon, but just chill.

PS: Is it just me, or are there a group of 5 or so posters who ride his ****?

nah there are a specific group who ride his **** for sure, honestly I don't really like the album too much it's kinda shit I'd give it a 6-6.5/10 haven't listened to it in a while and don't intend to.

Not sure why you're surprised that there's a few people who 'ride his ****?' In any group of people there'll be some who're bigger fans of some stuff than others. It's like saying 'is it just me or are there a group of posters who ride Collingwood's ****.'

Having said that, Kanye fanboi, loud and proud*.

*May be wearing a Kanye t-shirt right now.

MBDTF and Recovery greatest albums of 2010.

Agreed! :thumbsu:

I suspect the only people who think otherwise are those who think Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Pink and Susan Boyle's albums are actually better.

I'll throw in Michael Jackson's new album too, obviously its overproduced work and not Michael's finished product, but damnit I don't care what critics say, I listen to it, and I love it, and it's the King of Pop.

As for MBDTF, phenomenal record, Kanye, along with Eminem are easily the best artists we have today. (Maybe throw in Gaga too)

Does not compute.

They are usually one of three types of people:

1. Those you've mentioned above.

2. Those that hate the hiphop genre altogether.

3. Those that hate any artist associated with a major label.
