Ripper, I have to agree, except I'll name some names for u.

Matthews: His decisions were appalling at the wrong times, Cupido was put on too late and was placed in the backline where he is unused to. Keating was on and off like yo-yo. Whatever he was thinking or sniffing, had better not happen again during the season otherwise teams will pounce and kill us. His job is to help us win, all he did was prolong the pain of all Brisbane Lions fans by acting like an absolute dimwit. I think he has had too much booze in his system and his judgement has been severely impaired, I can't, for the life of me, think what the hell he was doing, ecspecially when the game was in the balance in the 2nd. At least we didn't only score 20pts which was scored in the 1978 night series final by North Melbourne, though we only went 1 goal better.

Stuart Dew: Some very nice kicks

The Umpires: Rammed it down out throats after the game had been won, with some very queer decisions towards Port.

Now for players............

Simon Black: Copped an absolute caning in the midfield and should be forced to walk home via Melbourne, should give him some time to think about his poor performance.

Luke Power: Wasn't there at all and was on the end of a flogging. Needs some time in the Woop Woop thirds to reconstruct his one dimensional game.

Alastair Lynch: Didn't get much ball but didn't help the cause when moved by Matthews into the backline.

Aaron Shattock: A wierd type of player, shouldn't of manned Wanganeen ( See Matthews) and should go back to Jabiru and do some soul-searching and apply for the Palmerston ressies.

Jonathon Brown: Didn't produce when required, dropped some sitters and is just inexperienced in those situations, should of played off the bench in tandem with Lynch.

The whole frikkin midfield: Didn't stand up and copped a hiding from a more prepared Port team.

Just a few, more to come possibly at a later date, stay tuned.

Very good analysis Homer. I am still shocked by how bad we were. Full credit to Port though, they were playing quite a few levels above us tonight and deserved to beat us by so much. Credit also to Danni and the other Lions fans who made it over there, I feel saddest of all for you guys.

But hey, we made $95,000 for just showing up, at least there is ONE positive.

Grendel you're right, I reckon we will be WAY more competitive when the real stuff starts in a couple weeks, BUT it still hurts like hell.

The thing that concerned me the most was that all sportspeople play with pride.Our team didn't last night.
Whatever the reason thats a real wory for the main season.
Be it either nerves because of the big occasion, or whatever, they appeared to not try.
Also isn't it the coaches job to get the players up each week, in a position to win each match. Our team looked like the Under 10's could hav ebeaten them last night.
A total disgrace.
Also if this was planned by the club as only a practice match, then they owe all those supporters like Danni that paid good money to fly to the other end of Australia to see them play.Not just have the players turn up. If it wasn't planeed then we have a huge physc problem. Or is this another 98 coming up.
Fix this problem before the season. Our club is the laughing stock of the whole AFL, because they didn't try.

Ripper, I wouldn't be too harsh on Lethal. He got what he wanted - a finals win in Melbourne.

The Lions would have had to play at their best to beat Port.
