I agree that Porps hit the ground more often than usual. I'd also note that Richmond were massively Porps-conscious. At stoppages in our 50 they were all yelling out to cover him, and one of Walker's goals (his 6th I think) went through at shoulder height while the 2 Richmond defenders on the goal line argued about who was going to cover Porps.

Just watched the game thanks to RichmondFC :thumbsu:

Anyway i noticed whilst we were very very good, Richmond didn't look to be 100% committed like we were. Anyway thats their problem, that gave us a chance to see some of our structure working.

A few players caught my eye;

Davis - very very good, taking contested marks, everything you want from him minus a bit of run from defence.

Sloane - too bad Stabby called dibs cuz i wish he was my boy.

Knights, Porps - looked a bit rusty but still showed glimpses of there 2009 form.

Maric - competed well, second efforts were good. doesn't often jump at centre bounces but seemed to work.

Walker- this board gave the illusion walker couldn't chase, take contested marks and various other things, but definetly has proved everyone wrong. is better than tippett imo

I was glad not to notice any poor players, the usual culprit Stevens (my whipping boy) was good, got turned around poorly by Vickery once, but good game. Symes is useless with the ball as usual and didn't see his supposed good inside work at all. I would much rather Tambling play who is at least hit and miss instead of Symes miss and miss with his kicks.

Big props to Richmond for getting this up and even though the commentators got a few names wrong, they did a fairly good job and had no bias really.

Our ball use by foot was very impressive. And our entries into 50m being varied depth to varied targets as equally impressive.

So long as they stick to that when Tips is there we should have a very good season.

or recognise that these are our two distinct style of play options
each will have there merit in particular circumstances...

if one of walker or tippett is having a day out..then get it to them asap!

this is what the hawks have been working on.. a change up of style...

Can someone help me out, currently at home with some bizzare illness that has me on about 40% vision I am desperate to sit and watch the replay but this new fandangled Apple has me stumped!

I have tried to open the video but continually get nada!

Even though most of the players will look like a moving blurred ghost I am going mad sitting here whilst my little girl watches "Rory the racing car" which got me on here to start with!!!!

Wouldn't work on my mac either.

You need to download Microsoft Silverlight for mac and it will work. That is what the AFL site uses to show it's video content on macs.

I was really impressed with Tambling. His disposal was fine, and he set up a few nice plays with a quick handpass or kick.:thumbsu: A lock for round 1 IMO. Also, Mckay looked like he did back in the 2009 final, awesome signs.

I agree that he generally looked very good, but there was one instance where he was running alongside Riewoldt to get to a loose ball and completely failed to put his body on the line, allowing Jack to soccer it forward. It was lucky he had help up the ground.
It was just one small thing, but I'm a bit wary of moments like that with him, given how many tigers posters said that he can be very "selective" with his hardness at the ball.
Otherwise though, I'd have him in my team.

But then there was that instance he went right at the ball and cleaned up Conca, not caring at all at what was in his way.:thumbsu: If we pick out little moments like yours, I'm sure we could do it for every player, so nothing to worry about.

No way would Tambling be a lock for round 1, he did a couple of alright things (hitting a few more targets) but nowhere near enough to get a lock into the 22. I think he will be lucky to be in the side come round 1.
I think you will be surprised come next Thursday then.

I could be but I just don't see why we would bring him into the team with the other players competing for a spot in the side. We traded Tambling in to add class to our defense, so when we were bringing it out he could hit up targets etc. From the two matches I have seen of him, he has been below average against Carlton and maybe got to just average against Richmond. I have loved his defensive efforts, whether that be laying a bump, saving a goal etc but imo, he hasn't done what we traded him in to do (as of yet).
