Only 26 days to go! Im starving to see a game - cant wait...Wondering what people expect from our club during the 2013 NAB cup... I hope we see some of the new boys debut - Kommer, Daniher, Van Unen..There will be a few guys who have points to prove after an injury riddled year last year - Pears & Winders come to mind, and it will be interesting to see how BJ fits in and where he is played. I hope to see a side something like this;-

Hardingham Pears Baguley
Hibberd Carlisle Heppell
Zakka Myers Goddard
Winderlich Hurley Jetta
Daniher Hille O'Brien

T.Bell Hocking Howlett

Bench from: Davis NLM Kavanagh Melksham
Gumby Colyer Browne Kommer

I actually think we will go hard at the NAB cup.

After a decrease in members last year, I reckon they will want to ramp up.

Create early season hysteria, get member sales up. We have Collingwood and doggies in Nab 1. A Collingwood beating would be huge for member department.

Depending on the results of rnd1, it could change our approach.

I hope that disposal is OK for a first hit out - Our disposal fell away in the second half of 2012.

Agree, this will be what I'm looking for the most. We better have been spending off season on skills rather than squats this year.

Yep, no ####ing around this year in the pre-season games I reckon (which is what Nab Cup is after all)...hope they just play blokes who are in the running for a rd 1 spot and not wasting time with bunch of new recruits.

No Riemers, Lonergans and the other list cloggers taking up spots so it means the stronger ones like the Brownes, Kavs, O'Briens etc can get a run.

Near full strength on the field I say and play anyone who is near 100% fit. Though Watson, Fletcher and Hille should be excused.

I don't expect J.D to play but I do expect Goddard to have heaps of the pill which will send the Bomber faithful into a membership buying frenzy.

Usually I don't look into much about our pre-season form...not the last 5 or 6 years anyway...and didn't really care if we won or not. But if we are serious about improving as a side we have to start off well this year and get our shit together straight away.

I think the football department will do whatever they think is best for the team for season 2013. Selling memberships won't have a bearing on anything.

FWIW they will most likely go a bit harder given that we play Adelaide a week earlier than the rest.

Normally it won't. But we were way down on targets financially, needing to pay for a new facility.

There may be a little bit of financial pressure put on the football department to cover the expenditure!

Best way to increase membership is to become a top 4 club. Club isn't going to take short sighted approach.

We played a match on the same day of the NAB GF last year, is that not the case this year?
I'm pretty sure it's not. GWS and Sydney didn't last year in prep for their opener IIRC, and I'd assume the same benefits would be given to us, Adelaide, West Coast and Fremantle

What am I hoping for? A team missing at times it's best seven or eight players still moving the ball with precision and speed, falling back in to defense as a unit, creating some serious selection headaches for the season proper.

If I see that I'll be pretty happy.

The bolded bit.

Whether we go full throttle with a full(ish) team or not will probably dicate that.

You're attempting to apply fairness and logic to the AFL fixture, surely you know better than that. ;)
Sydney and GWS both played games on the Saturday afternoon(17th of March) before the opener, however their opener was on a Saturday(ours is a Friday), I assume we'll both(Bombers and Crows) get Friday games the week before at least.
Though we of course get the weekend off after the Crows game, which I actually don't mind at all.(Ease into the season, didn't hurt the Swans last year).

This. A million times this.
for me, once the tennis finishes, I start getting real horny for footy. I never wish my summer away, but once the tennis is done it's footy season as far as I'm concerned.

That means one week. That's 7 days.

In one week, I will know. "Lance has a semi for the EFC".

I agree just put the footy on,

I mean I normally love the cricket, but I turned it off the other night to watch a movie with the misses which I've never done before, which means I must be starting the "soften up the misses so I can watch 9 games of footy over the weekend without complaints for the other 6months of the year" process earlier this year... Either that or the onedayers suck...

Little from column A, little from column B at the moment would be my guess.

haha...two summers ago I made a mental note to NOT mention footy around the house from draft day till the first NAB Cup game. I've been coaching my son's footy team for the last 8 years too, so there's always the danger of football over-dose creeping in. And that's not good for football watching fanatics like me and the son if we still want to be watching Friday night games in rd 13.

Over the years I've made the fatal mistake of dribbling on about footy all summer around the missus. By about mid June she'd already had enough.

It's been a long hard road but thank #### I can dribble on about footy here and no one is the wiser.
