All reports are that he had a stellar morning/afternoon yesterday. Will he get his shot?

If Mooney the D***head is out again then I reckon its probably between him and Playfair. I'd be unhappy if Playfair got another go so soon.

There are those close to Nathan that suggest that he has no desire to play at the top level. That he prefers his grass roots football. If the passion isn't there then there's no point pushing.

1. That's not what his brother says, and I'd suggest he's about as close as you can get.

2. If that was really the case, he wouldn't still be at the club after 2 years.

3. His endeavour on the field especially in recent weeks says otherwise.

Troll.

mooney will get rubbed out so Nathan should be played for these last two matches... Playfair has no right to be recalled after being given so many chances... The future is N.Ablett.

Yes that's right... everything I say is a troll. I'm not trying to actually create a conversation, I just want people to hurl abuse at me. I'm such a masochist.
Actually, I hope he does find his feet and have a great career (preferabbly as a Hawk ;) ) I'm just trying to contribute some knowledge.

How come hyperdermic has been unbanned from the Geelong board ?

Playfair has had only 8 games this season, had a serious jaw injury last year, then came back to play extremely well at season's end. He then tore his hamstring (slight), which deprived him of a good start to the year. He then came back too early to tear a ligament in his shoulder and sat out 5-6 weeks.

Get off the guys back, I would love to see most of the idiots on this forum to come back to work after such serious injuries.

You guys are a joke at times. Totally losing reality most of you lot here. Some of you are so fickle that you forget what happened last year, H did quite well at the end of the year and puts in each week. At least we can say he doesn't get reported every second week for useless and undiciplined acts like our other CHF.

H will most likely miss out anyway, injured again with a groin strain.

Sure Ablett is ok, but he isn't a world beater either. He has only played one game where we can say he has some skills, that being against the Eagles - LAST YEAR.

I'm not saying he will be a bad player, most likely not, but there is so many deficiencies in his game. He is way too slow for the AFL level. Therefore if playing at CHF he will be run around by someone who likes to run off, leaving him behind. All our CHF's need a good pre-season, along with the rest of the team with a new fitnes coach.

Please, give the guys who have been injured a break, they have reasons for not playing well, there is others who have not been injured yet no-one seems to give a toss. Our bad season isn't reason to pick on guys who have been injured and the match committee has brought them back too soon.

Oh god. What garbage. I swear we've been through this before. Playfair is a hack. Nath is the future!

The jaw excuse is really pathetic now. IT WAS OVER A YEAR AGO!

Spot on... German did you even see the match against the saints? The bloke is built like a brick s hit house but he is terrified to actually go hard for the footy... that effort in the third quarter was deplorable... There's still an outside chance he'll come good but right now he doesn't warrant selection, especilly since Ablett is in good nick in the VFL.

I heard it said before and read it in the GA interview the other day that Nathan is more comfortable at the club now and has his own group of friends/mates.
Who are these mates of his?Are they guys that are playing VFL or players that are in the A's. He seems to be a guy who lives for the mateship of a footy club, after all wasn't this one of the reasons he wanted to stay at Moda in the first place. For mine I dont think we will see the best of Nathan untill he is playing with his mates in the A's and I dread the thought of him budding up with guys who end up being delisted etc. I can only hope he becomes strong mates with the likes of Tom Hawkins , some kids destined to proceed and to be around the club for a long period of time.

I am not using the jaw injury as an excuse, as I stated he did have this injury last year, in which he came back and proved his worth going into the finals. This year he has torn a hamstring and blew out his AC joint, both of those were serious injuries this year. The AC ligament damage put him out for 6-7 weeks. A bit hard to pick up form and fitness in that period, especially with the debarcle going on in the fitness department, i.e. Barto 'please someone punch me in the gob' lacci.

We have so many others on the list who haven't performed yet haven't been through injuries as bad as big H. The likes of KK spring to mind, along with Lonergan and Macca.

I actually stand corrected, the game where he did show his form was against Brisbane, he had 15 disposals with 8 marks. That also was not playing the full game at CHF, some major time was spent on the bench.

Nathan will be a good player, but he isn't the future you dream of. So far in his short career he has played only one good game. ONE !! That is it. Is this the future ??? We all don't know due to the selection panel dropping the CHF possie like a hot potato. You need time to get to fitness and skill at that level, especially when we do not have anyone who has the natural talent to fill that possie.

To date, Nathan's high in career marks within one game is 6, with his game high posessions raining in at 11.

Whilst I don't want to bag him out, he hasn't had the opportunity either. Not through injury as H has put up with, but also the match committee's inability to stick with players for more than a game or two. In fact both players have been put through the ringer on this exact effect.

N Ablett = bigggggggg flop

He will be good, just to say again, once the match committee stick with guys for longer than a game, guys like NAblett, Henry and co will develop. It is hard doing so getting injuries and then get thrown in the deep end and dropped thereafter.

It just doesn't work. The match committee at Geelong needs to have a hard look at themselves, their inability to stick with players so they can get some time to develop has been woeful.

Everyone of the forwards (except Ottens) has gone through this crap all year. Their form is all related to the crap passing that we have out of our midfield and the inability of the match committee to stand by them for longer than a game.

Yeah, I agree. Pick a forward and give them more time to come up to speed.
This would have happened to Ottens as well at different points based on his 'forward' form, but remained in the side due to his important and flexibility in the ruck. If Nablett and co had the extended stint that Otto has had, then they would most likely develop the same consistency he has at seasons end (however, I think Nablett is really the only one at present that has a future hope - Playfair and Macca both have flaws that are beyond just giving them time to fix up).

He's played a handful of games - and shown talent. Imagine how many guns we may nopt have seen if we chopped them after about 10 games?

Hell, we would have never heard of a guy called Gary Ablett Snr.

Didn't players like Michael Tuck and Gary O'Donnell play somewhere between 50-100 reserve games before they became regular senior players ?
It might've even before they played seniors.

My bad, forgot anyone with the surname 'Ablett' isn't criticised at Geelong, despite failing to live up to even conservative expectations!

*Waits for ban from Geelong board* :D

Oh well, seeing as I can only ban on a site-wide basis, that'll have to do.
