We're finally here, the 2022 NAFL Grand Final! This season looked a bit different, but the quality of the entries was once again absolutely brilliant, and what a Grand Final pairing we have here!

magpienato is a long term member of this board an regular competition entrant who has shown flashes of brilliance but has never quite put it all together in a Premiership level package like he has with the Whyalla Steelers this season. Can he finally etch his name in FJGD history with a victory here?

GoodPoint is a relative unknown to us here, but has a clear eye for footy design. He made a splash in the last season of NAFL, making the 2nd round of finals with a sharp Hunter Valley Arrows design, and he's taken a huge step up here with a design that proves that smart, simple design that nails a theme is still the way to be successful in these competitions.

Good luck to both teams!

Also i'll note that the last time someone who wasn't Freight Train, Bacon Warrior, Dylan8 or myself made an NAFL Grand Final was way back in the 2014/15 season. This is such an exciting step forward for the board, with these 2 designers and plenty of others pushing the old guard hard, and one of them will be rewarded with FJGD immortality in 3 short days.

Congratulations to GoodPoint and the Canberra Snakes! Your 2022 NAFL Champions! A fantastic closely fought Grand Final and a very worthy champion.

Commiserations to magpienato who would have also been a worthy winner, and who has shown incredible growth as a designer. I'm sure you will challenge again next season.

We WILL have a 2022/23 season of the NAFL, so start planning! I'll get a thread up at some stage shortly.

Well done to both finalists on these incredible entries, two very deserving finalists.

GoodPoint - welcome to the hall of champions, I was saying this a few weeks ago to a few of the designers on here but your design was arguably the best in the competition, especially in terms of real life application and capturing an identity with a clean “footy jumper” design. Incredible work, and one hell of an accomplishment.

magpienato - very unlucky, this was a very close final (as evidenced by the final score line), and your Whyalla concept tore the house down this season and your designs just keep getting better and better. Keep it up, there’s a major title on the horizon for you at this rate.

Massive props to everyone who entered this season, and to El_Scorcho for carrying this competition through, it’s been an honour running NAFL (and NAFL Reserves) over the past half decade or so, and the future of this competition is in very safe hands, I’m excited to see more designers come through and shine in the future.

Cheers appreciate the kind words!

Such a tight competition with so many high quality teams this season - especially well done by magpienato, Whyalla's home kit has got to have a pretty good run for Design of the Year
