Good news that he didn't get suspended because you never know what the MRP will decide. Bad news is that if he does something minor like that again he'll get suspended which is ridiculous. No idea why but Mark Robinson on Game Day was sure Naitanui would get a week.

Well thats simple. "Robbo" is a first class pole smoker.

Great news for NicNat! Shame he now has points hanging over his head but we'll need him for the game this week. Another big test! :thumbsu:

The whole system is a joke. Ottens gets 1 week for a elbow to the back of a players head who didnt know he was coming and the whole thing was 80 metres behind the play. Whether Ottens had a good record or not is irrelevent, what he did is EXACTLY the type of thing the AFL should be taking a hard line on, should they want Mrs Jones to let Johnny go and play AFL.

Realistically Ottens should have been given a 5 week penalty with 2 off for good behaviour and told if the thuggish behaviour is repeated then his penalty will be 10 weeks next time he fronts up with no reduction.

This approach might get rid of idiots like Campbell Brown

I don't think you understand why the tribunal moved to things like low/medium/high impact etc rather than the arbitrary doling out of weeks depending on how they felt that night.

There are a few failings with the system as it is, yes, but it is far better than the completely discretionary nature of the previous tribunal system. I like the ability for us after the match to look at:

1 - Force above/below that required to constitute a reportable offence - if above, proceed to step 2, if below no action
2 - High/medium/low impact - 3/2/1 grading
3 - Intentional/reckless/negligent - 3/2/1 grading
4 - Was it to the head or neck? If so, 2, if not, 0
5 - Do your sums, taking off 25% for an early guilty plea and/or good record, adding 25% for a bad record
6 - ???
7 - Profit

MRP is a damn farce anyway. All the stupid weak off the ball stuff should cop a huge extra loading, thats what really looks bad in games, not two players going hard at the ball with one getting down lower.

Why should players not get a discount for good behaviour? Similarly, why should they not get more for bad behaviour? A player that has a brain fart and does something shit should get less of a penalty than a player that does is consistently for the lulz.
