my memory is hazy, which player of Connors are you referring to?
Dan Houston. His direct manager, Nick Gieschen works for Connors Sports Management.

The Houston trade went through as it did because Paul Connors came in over the top of his employee.

Something Eagles fans should also be aware of in the Harley Reid thread if he requests a trade to a big Melbourne club.

It was staggering why port shopped Houston at all. Under contract for several more years, the discussion should have been shelved. I guess most of you guys if you had a choice would have preferred to have kept Houston and not worried about Lukosius?

It won’t be possible because he is a 22 year old superstar.

You aren’t the only club with cap room and he would appeal to everyone from Richmond north eagles bombers and yes port could probably make it work too. The top end of the draft likely has multiple of these clubs having picks in the top 15 before you likely get your first.

There isn’t the threat of a normal free agency situation.

His agent is also Ben Williams. Yes the situation is also slightly different in that he is out of contract. But look what he organised for North losing JHF.

Quite frankly I could see us asking for a curtain/draper and a first.
Draper/Curtin and a first. Lol
Neither would want to got to St Kilda, and the Crows wouldn't let either of them go.
You don't make yourself better if you let your best young players go.
It would be two firsts for NWM and a second rounder.

😂

Mate you do realise this isn’t a free agent scenario?
The cost to acquire is completely relevant.

It’s also going to be entirely likely that the player won’t nominate a club but have a preference. Which won’t rule you or the power out.

Anyway, irrelevant - he will stay and sign on, leaving you to miss out.

Imagine Thinking you’ll get a superstar 22 year old for your crappy picks in a draft Twomey is saying the first round could be 30 deep 😂

Curtin/Draper and a 1st rounder, he ain't Butters.

Traditionally if I have to pay the piper I would want it to go toward an inside bull or tall forward, but the game has changed and ball use is everything.

The window is ajar for us. He's absolutely worth both our first this year and next, with some junk coming back.

He's also out of contract.
If he doesn't want to be at the club, then he won't be there.
You won't be able to make him sign a contract and stay.
If he wants to go to say Adelaide, and Adelaide only has some late round firsts, and no players want to go to St Kilda, then the deal will get done. You arnt going to say no to two firsts in around the 12 mark and send him to the draft for nothing.

Most likely scenario is Port lose Butters which should get them what they need for him.

I know and agree with what your saying its all part of the business of it.

I still think he signs through to free agency with us

Why would he do that?
IF he wants to leave. It will be to go home. Neither Adelaide club prevents that from happening.

He also isn’t a free agent.

He MIGHT prefer the crows. But that doesn’t mean we will take a poor deal in comparison to what Port could hypothetically offer.

He achieves what he wants which is moving back to SA with either club.

Not saying anything about making him sign a contract. Pointing out that any belief that he walks to the crows in any draft is a dream. It’s not rooted in any reality.

So, no we won’t just accept whatever junk is thrown our way like your first rounder that could end up as pick 25 this year.

fans always say this, but that's not how it works 95% of the time

more than likely a third team will be involved a multi team trade everyone gets what they want , stkilda and Adelaide are professional clubs that get trades done. The days off trying to screw clubs over for quality players are gone look were it got Essendon no where

Again, missing what I said that provides clear rational.

It isn’t a free agent deal.

He is out of contract. If you finish 4th. He has to navigate 14 picks - before free agency compo to get to you in the draft. Which will include port prior to you.

There are a number of clubs including us who could take him in the PSD.

So when a crow fan says, yes here are 2 first rounders and it looks like this years is in the 20’s. Your talking about walking away from a second round pick for a superstar 😂

Last I heard on Gettable was they thought he was more likely to re-sign with St Kilda.
And next week they'll probably say something different - without firm evidence they're just going to keep guessing until something's announced.

Very relevant.

Because you won’t be able to walk him to your club.

Hope that helps clarify that for you.

No club is passing on a 22 year old superstar.

What's your point ? Who said he was walking anywhere ?

Non-free agent's nominate 1 club all the time, and it is exceedingly rare that the trade doesn't get done.

Sure.

To which I originally posted a curtain/draper and a first.

Taking a first this year is effectively taking a second round pick from any finals team.

So, yeah completely agree. A deal can get done. But if you think saying - here are 2 crappy picks and it’s getting done. You’ll be surprised.

If he wants to go to SA then the power will still be a relevant option.

Pretend otherwise. But there is not a threat to the saints as to not getting a fair deal by our standards.

He was homesick and considering to leave at his last contract, but stayed.
I don't have any inside info on him, so I dont know where his head is at now.
I'm sure he is weighing up all his options. Going home isn't a bad thing for him, but it's just a matter of how close he is with the playing group and the coaches, and the money that both sides offer.
St Kilda is flush with cash, so there's no way they can be beaten on the salery side of it, and you would imagine they want to keep him. He's your best young talent.

Going home is real bad if that means you are heading to Adelaide.

Cool. The beaches are better, the woman are hotter, the weather is better, no bumper to bumper traffic, no toll roads, plus his friends and family.
Less crime, less machete wielding gangs to boot.
All he has to do is avoid the serial killers here and he is laughing.
