No. Clubs have always recruited freak athletes. There are players like Brennan or Gourdis who performed better than Naitanui at the draft camp that have been around for a while. Obviously Naitanui is taller than both, but players like that are a rare proposition who only come around occasionally, and will be picked up on a case by case basis.
