What do you expect from them this season? How many goals and possies per game for each?

How do you think they'll go this week? Do you expect ablett to play?

Would be happy with 2 goals a game from each. Hawkins will only play 10-12 games, NAblett should play most, but maybe not this week because of injury.

Sticking to the 10-12 games for Hawkins? So you think he won't keep up his form from the 1st 2 games?

Think Nathan is capable of kicking between forty and fifty [ possibly more ] which would be a great result when combined with the number he also helps create, think he had a hand in five others as well as the five he kicked himself against Carlton.

As for Tom, impossible to tell, don't know how he'll stand up to the rigours of a full season at this stage, or exactly how many games he'll play.
Let's just say that if they both continue with the form they've displayed thus far I for one will be more then happy.

Of course the really exciting thing about them is, that no matter what they achieve this year they're only going to get better over time, which is something to look forward to.

By the way, seeing as how you're an Essendon supporter, how's Courtney Johns going, has he been picked this week, noticed he kicked a bag last week in the reserves.
If you guys can't find a spot for him we'll take him off your hands.

He's named as an emergency but he's playing... it would be strange if we couldn't fit him in after kicking 7 goals.

Thanks for the reply.
Liked the look of him on the few ocassions I saw him play last year, leads hard and has good hands, with him, Lloyd, Lucas and Hird at times you appear to have a pretty potent forward line, much the same as our's is starting to shape up at last, could be a real shoot out when we meet.

Look forward to it :thumbsu:

I seriously believe Hawkins will play 15-16-17 or 18 games this year. I know Bomber Thompson said he will only play 11-12 but this will be stretched for the following reasons:
1. The crash and bash factor on the bodies of small first or second year players which causes tiring and wear will not be a factor for Hawkins.
2. Fitness will not be the reason to drop him for he would run almost the same in the VFL.
3. I know it sounds stupid but lets face it "our starting 18 includes Hawkins"
4. When rounds 15-22 come, and pressure is on Geelong to make top 4 or 8, I really doubt Thompson will leave players out for a "rest" after all we all agree Thompson is coaching for his career this year NOT the distance future.
5. In 2002 Ablett and Bartel were rested because we were building for the future. It is apparent Geelong think they can go a long way this year and this means playing the A squad.
6. MOST OF ALL If Hawkins is sitting on 25 goals come the middle of the season (highly likely (thats say 6 games with 3 goals in each from now on)) You just cant drop a fish who has been thrown in the deep end who is swimming with the sharks like a duck to water.

Hawkins will kick 2.5 goals a game average and play 16 games = 40 Goals
Nablett will be up and down some we may see a few bags of 6 plus and we may see a few 0.0 But Im tipping Nath to kick around =45 Goals

I think what you are saying is reasonable so....we'll check back later in the year to see if you are correct

Can people be realistic here? Nathan has kicked 8 goals on Lindsay Gilbee and either Santana O'hAilpin (wherever you put the capitals) or Jarrad Waite (one or the other I can't remember). The Bulldogs didn't have enough tall defenders in Round 1, so Gilbee had to play tall and Nath got his goals easier playing on someone 10cms shorter. The next week he plays against the Carlton defence, anybody could get 5 goals.

As for Tomothy, he played on Whitnall, again, anyone would get a few goals on him. And the next week on Ernie Carroll (see Fat Lance).

We should take into consideration how the two boys would play against tougher defenders. I don't know, but I don't think we'd see another display like the Carlton game.

Realistically, I think Nathan will play 12-18 games for about 20-30 goals and Tom 10-15 games for 18-25 goals in 2007.

I'm hoping it's not because we had easier opponents, but can everyone stop predicting that Nath and Tom will get 50+ goals this year? Nutcase Moondog might, but not Nath or Tom, yet.

You are an idiot aren't you. With three tall forwards, and all three being of atleast some quality, one is always going to kick goals. Not one team has three good defenders. So therefore one forward should be able to kick at least 4-5 goals.

Gus 17 is right on the money,

N Ablett if he plays 18-20 games for the season will kick around 40-50 goals, this is only assuming around 2 goals a game. With his skill on the lead and his ability to rove and snap this is quite realistic.

Hawkins, playing around 15 games, will kick around 40 goals, with 7 on the board already this is again only a further two goals a game. As the season goes on his fitness will improve and he should improve his output.

With Mooney in the mix very few clubs can cover these three players, therefore at least one of these players should kick 4+ most games.

This is not true. When Harley is at full fitness, we do :D
