Young Ablett on move
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Geelong Advertiser Monday September 2nd
Young Ablett on move - Scott Morton
****
Geelong Falcons coach Damien Christensen is confident Nathan Ablett will line up for the Falcons next year.
Christensen said the youngest Ablett son had been training with the Falcons for the past month and had fitted in well.
"I'm confident he'll be down playing with us next year," he said.
"I think he's made the commitment.
"I think he's enjoyed training and coming here. You have to remember he was born in December so he's only a couple of weeks off being under-16, which is the thing that's held him back this year."
Ablett has been content this year to play with Modewarre in the Bellarine Football League and has shown that he has inherited the same uncanny footballing ability of his father and older brother Gary.
He turns 17 in December and will be eligible for the 2003 draft but Geelong has so far been tightlipped about the possibility of him joining his older brother under the father/son rule.
Recent changes mean that in 2003 only one player can be picked up by the Cats under the rule, which means Geelong may have to choose between Ablett and Mark Blake, son of former Geelong ruckman Rod Blake.
For Ablett to have any chance of being drafted in 2003 he needs to play in the under-18 TAC Cup competition to prove himself to the Cats' draft selectors.
