COLLINGWOOD defender Nathan Brown has suffered a suspected serious knee injury. Brown had scans today and will discover the extent of the injury tomorrow, ***************.com.au reports.
The 22-year-old full-back did not play in either of Collingwood's Round 1 NAB Cup victories against Richmond and Carlton on Saturday night.
He was a late inclusion for last year's Grand Final after Simon Prestigiacomo withdrew with injury and was one of the Pies' best in both matches, performing admirably on St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt.
Exact details of the injury are not known at this stage.
Collingwood's enviable depth was on show on Saturday night, with recruit Chris Tarrant slotting straight into a key defensive role.

**** - That is the last thing we need for him to do his Knee and be out for Quite Awhile. So I guess this means we could upgrade a Rookie early then

It's not good but we're fortunate to have Tarrant now and guys like Keeffe in reserve. Also it could be alright timing if it's serious knee injury (assuming he was going to do it at some point) as he'll have a full preseason for next year. Here's hoping it's not too bad, and if it is he has a full and successful recovery.

Herald sun have only quoted from that website. Nothing official from the club as yet

Doubt we hear anything from the Club until after the Scan

No doubt something is going on with his knee, hopefully nothing serious. It might sound harsh as well but I think with the players we have we can easily cover him not playing. Ideally you'd want him in the team but I don't think we're going to suffer for it, if another defender goes down we might be noticing it. Also again the timing of it (if you had to do your knee) is fairly good as we have 5 weeks of practice games and a whole season to get things right.

I think I'll wait for an actual respected news service or even the club to announce anything before I panic.

***************, WTF, never heard of them, and the Herald Sun are using them as their one and only source.:o

Hopefully it's best case scenario if he does have a knee injury it's only a 4-6 week injury.

Anything but an ACL is a good result from here. A bad medial/lateral ligament tear is 8 weeks maximum generally.

Cartilage damage may require an arthroscope and he'd be 6 weeks tops, generally.

ACL would be bad news. Year gone.

I suspect Tarrant was always going to be played in the same side as Nate Brown so it's a huge opportunity for Keeffe.

Damn it, shattering for Nate, hopefully he recovers well and we see him back in 2012 as good as ever.:(

No report of an ACL? So we could always hope itws njot ligament related and more structural. The lay-off for that type of injury is 4-8 weeks.

However he has had a poor pre-season thanks to injury, hopefully he is back mid-year.
