To summarize we 'lose' a player that doesn't want to be with us, is injury prone, not professional in his rehab and asking overs based upon pre draft reputation in return for a pick that helps us get a proven player.
Trade period is getting better and better.

Does anyone know what we're actually offering him. Dont see why it should be anything more than a year given his injury history. If he goes well next year then by all means sign him up long term

I'm not sure I believe a word from that Brissie nuffie in this thread but let's just say he does intend to go to StKilda.

What would the Saints be offering? Obviously not their first pick so I'm assuming their second which is in the early 20's?

Swap for Lonie?

I'd say their second pick plus a fringe player maybe?

Great bloke, went to school with him, still remember the look on his face when he knew collingwood were grabbing him; by far his least favourite club and apparently still is. Will be playing for St Kilda next year take it to the bank.
Very interesting. You'd think a kid being drafted by any AFL club would be a dream come true.

If he does go i will be so disappointed in him, the club has done a lot for him.

Im not going to take anything from the Brisbane guys comment, when a player goes into the draft they know very well it could be any club that drafts them and it doesnt matter who they support or hate.

If i was good enough for AFL i wouldnt care who i went to.

If that's the case, more than happy to have him leave.

Even if you are just a 21 year old or whatever, that's grossly unprofessional when you're meant to be a 'professional athlete'.

Honestly with Shazza signed up, Treloar coming on board and our midfield looking as stacked as it is, I don't really care too much about Freeman.

Also surprised to hear he hated the Pies if he was an NRL fan - can't say I give a shit about any of the clubs of a league I don't follow.

Wtf did Hine see in Freeman over Cripps is beyond me. Cripps is a jet, just won the Blues B&F at age 20!

This is what concerns me sometimes.

I find it hard to believe that Freeman looked noticeably better than Cripps at JUNIOR level given how badly Cripps is dominating SENIOR level. You have to wonder how an experienced recruiter can get that so wrong. I mean, two years later and you can clearly see Cripps should have gone Top 3 in that draft.

This looks worse than than Hawthorn and Carlton not taking Pendlebury in 2005.

Just interested how much you saw of each of them in their juniors? Cripps was considered a bit of a reach at the time of the draft.

Grain of salt stuff from a Brisbane poster who claims a kid who was in to Aussie Rules enough to pursue a career as an AFL player was a bigger NRL fan.

If he actually thinks number 2 is the case I would be cutting him on principle alone!!

Number 1 nah professional athletes never focus on what's been and 3 is understandable.

In fairness I go to a physio who was a physio at the Dogs for many years and also at the dons and still has great insight into the industry. We talked about Freeman and her understanding from physio mates in the industry that he was miss-managed in his first year(don't ask for specifics as I am not an expert) and she said that in all likelyhood he will continue to have hamstring problems for the rest of his career. This was late last year. She mentioned that it was quite well know in the industry that our players last year were pushed too hard.

You missed it.. Collingwood still keen to sign him. What is he asking for? Can't be a ridiculous sum.. its actually worked to the clubs advantage that he hasn't played as yet cause we can lock him away on a 3 yr contract for considerably lesshad he played and peperformed well. Just give the kid what he wants.
