I heard Connors on SEN on Saturday, I'm not sure you did

Might be better to continue here. :)

I posted here a few pages back that I expect the deal to be done, and Connors is just trying to get more money out of us. I understand that's the industry, but this wouldn't have been done without Freeman's approval, and not all players hold clubs to ransom the way he is (i.e. Marsh).

One of the key ingredients to the sustained success of Geelong and Hawthorn was that there was buy-in from the playing group - they wanted to play together, build to success, and if that required taking pay cuts to fit everyone in, so be it.

That's what Bucks is trying to develop at Collingwood. So when you have players like Freeman who are screwing the club for more money with nothing to show for it, as he is now, I question his commitment to the club, his teammates, and what we're trying to achieve.

This is completely in contrast with the likes of Marsh.

Again we dont know the full circumstances.
Plus the buy in from geelong players is all good when theyaid wel abd allfiring in the team.
Freeman may just be matching what he is being offered say from st kilda

You're doing that thing again.

This is being done with lots of young players not just ours. Lennon hasn't signed for the Tigers yet & some of their board are going off like some on our board are. Be patient & perhaps lets not pot our own. Well at least until they sign for somebody else.

Just read the tiges board. Wow they left him out of the finals team. That's rather concerning for them, especially as he hasn't re-signed.

Most of the supporters on their board seem resigned to the fact hes going to the blues

I'd rather not lose Freeman, but of he and Scharenberg, if I HAD to keep one, it'd be Scharenberg.

I'd still rather we kept Freeman though. Our side needs pace and he has it.

to help bitchmond out since lennon has not re signed I would happily have him at the woods

Nothing at all against this kid, haven't seen more than five minutes of him playing, scouts lauded his elite pace but questioned his foot skills and decision making, supposed to be good at getting his own footy.
However, if he leaves well, really what have we lost based on his contribution thus far?
If anyone thinks he is now going to pop off to St. Kilda for a juicier paycheck and all the hammy issues are going to just disappear and he is going to be a star for an opposition club is just paranoid.
Freeman has missed two crucial development seasons with chronic injury issues that has required at least one operation to try and rectify an ongoing problem, there is little evidence to suggest that he will be able to overcome these issues completely; he now has to be an absolute long shot to make up for all the time and football lost and develop to AFL level, hope he does but, he is well and truly up against it.
Personally, I feel he should have to pass a series of critical fitness tests when we resume and he might still be cut.

Just a bit of a left field thought, has Nathan actually spoken with St.Kilda, or has it just been reported that they're interested?

I know it's still a Victorian club, but I'm wondering if he'd be the sort of guy to ask to be traded to St.Kilda because it's closer to home for him? He's from the South, I just wonder.

Lol Bard, I know it's not that much closer but I just wonder if he's the sort of kid who would have that thought. I'm a couple of years older than Nathan and I'd love a job that's closer to home as well. Wouldn't say its a deal breaker, but I just wonder.

Imagine if he left, put a price on his head and we got him for nothing via the PSD.
Yes, I've heard this rumour too.

Quick now someone post on the Richmond board this rumour & that fact it's come from two sources, confirmed.

I'd love them both but - due diligence caveat - if it was one or the other I think I'd prefer Freeman.

We need that outside speed imv. Not disparaging Aish at all but not certain he provides something we don't have unless Sidey left next year. The best scenario would be to have both, obviously.

Guys, we've had a request from BF Admin for posters on the Pies board to stop tagging in opposition fans to our threads, including - or especially - Richmond fans. Its got to stop. And no pretending that its for the purpose of friendly banter or genuine discussion. You all know the latter is OK, but that's not what's happening.

I will repeat this message on other threads.

Then they might as well take away the Tag Feature Then
