How bout we make AFL fantasy/ Supercoach come to life. Get 2 Trades a week, trade out players underperforming, get some young kids to raise revenue and then fill the team with the best plaYers each available

The future of the AFL.... trades based on BF surveys to involve the fans and get the required expertise.

What was his point? That we keep Freeman.... Was just pointing out that there is a precedent for a top ten pick to be delisted after two years like you asked.

I think the point is active delisting ( that is against the player wishes as would be the case with Freeman), not passive delisting due to a request from the actual player. I think there is a big difference.

I can certainly see the difference.... if we actively delist Freeman than there's a disciplinary element in it.... we're telling everyone that we don't tolerate players being long term injured like he has been.... if we just passively delist then it's almost a kind of reward for getting injured. I can other players trying to get long term injuries so that they might be passively delisted. The delisting strategy is crucial...

Please no articles about he is flying next preseason... just get him on the bloody field
havent geelong had a similar issue with mop haired surfer kid who hasn't played for 4-5 yrs.. played one game I think it may have been agst us got injured again.

We just have to persevere. Quite a lot of players have to work through injuries for years before they make it (or not). Geelong are doing it at present with Menzel. We did it (unsuccessfully) with a couple of potentially great forwards. There is no way to tell whether these players will fulfill their potential or not other than to keep up the work until it is certain that they cannot do it. Then, and only then, do we get to the delisting discussion.

Its funny that you mention that. I can remember a couple of times watching games and the commentators were talking up the player who hadnt played for 2 years or similar. I think it happened for a hawthorn game too. It makes you wonder how these teams can hope to be successful with such a slack attitude to delisting....

I think it shows they actually have an ENLIGHTENED attitude to delisting - its not as black and white as you and others here think.

They've actually got a few on the merry-go-round of injuries.

Cowan, Vardy, Menzel, had Macintosh and another that slips my mind... wonder if they are slashing their wrists like us?

It might put an end to delisting discussion but it doesn't exactly create any genuine hope that the guy will do any better next season than he has the last 2 seasons.
Maybe no genuine hope but he can't add anything less than zero games (seniors) in 2016 & beyond. His upside may be similar to the difference Reid made on return.

No way Freeman would be delisted.

There is a reason he went at pick 10 two years back so we just have to be patient and support him.

Not his fault his hamstring got ripped off the bone.

Get him healthy and the upside is huge.

I'm hopeful and quite confident there will be plenty of upside.
He's hopefully like a two year old colt, very promising but shin sore.
Let them get sun and bone growth and they can be strong 3 year olds.
Nathan if he gets fully fit and past these setbacks then hopefully wow. Added speed, added attitude, added confidence.
We're setting up nicely, assuming all fit, with De Goey, Langdon, Scharenberg, Moore, Freeman, Grundy, Maynard, Elliot, Adams, Marsh, Sidebottom, Williams, Crisp... I'm beginning to drool...
Oh, and... Treloar.. Hyper ventelating....
(But it's all got to come together, the tricky part)

I don't think there is a delisting discussion? The only person on the entire forum who wants to delist him is THATSGOLD, who is just saying that for attention.

As a teacher, the going theory was that ignoring attention seekers shut them up, but in practice, this technique did not always work.
